Anybody ever experience anything like this before?

I was out today and noticed 2 sections where the fiberglass rod was exposed in my track where the idler wheels run on the track. I run my track loose, and use ice scratchers whenever they are needed so I don't think its an overheat issue. I also have a guage on my sled so I keep a close eye on my temp. Don't run plowed roads or ice, still a ton of snow here.

If the damage is on one side I'd check the idler bearings. Any chance one is seized?

May have frozen to the idler wheel. Also hyfax may have melted and pooled there. It does look like the rubber wheel adhered (temporarily) to the rubber of the track right where the rubber is thin (over the rod).

How many miles on that track?

New slides this season, all new bushings in skid, new bearings in idlers( I even pulled the seals and added extra grease to bearings) Had the skid out pre season for maintenance.

I had a similar experience with my wife's sled the cause was a frozen wheel however not near as bad as yours......
