Its time to put away the vette and get excited for winter. I need a new track for my '06 Apex and just recently ordered a 1.25"Ripsaw with 144 studs. I mostly ride on trails. I just want to hear the expert opinions on the track.

Track rules on the trail and sucks off it. If you dont like playing in powder you will like it. I think the predator has better durability but there are guys getting 6000-8000 miles on the ripsaw.

That what I figured. In Manitoba its mostly trails and ditch banging. I haven't had any issues with the old track but after the sled has 4,000 miles and it was abit worn. Needed some better traction though.
Any problems with studding a stock Apex? Clearance issues?

I'm going to put on a set of Simmons skis. With the 144 studs should I use a 6" Carbide or is the 4" good enough?

No clearance issues but if you bottom out your skid a lot keep tabs on the exhaust. max stud is 1.45" and i like 1.4"
I ride in a lot of icey trails so I like the 6-8" carbide but they will turn harder so choose your evil.

Thanks kinger, that helps alot. As long as the sled turns better then it does now with the crap stock skis. Our trails usually have descent snow cover with a few icey corners. I'm going to go with 4" carbides.

If you are going to have 144 studs in there I would think you should have at least 6" carbides other wise it may push a lot. I run the attak and run 8" triple point carbides and would not want any less. IMHO.

I haven't ordered the skis yet, so more opinions I can get the better. I've never had studs before. Any skis have to be better the stock I'm sure.

just got 1" predator track for 06 apex dealer told me 120 down middle is great for lake and aggressive trail riding had 1 1/4 ripsaws with 144 on 06 didn't last 4000km didn't fair much better with it on 03 rx1 dealer said 144 may cause sled not to corner as well as 120 and traction not a whole lot different what do you think before i start install

I run 6 on outside and 4 on inside. I have 2 pair and wont ride with anything else. I have C&A's and USI triple threats both are no cmpetition for the simmons.
