Take a standard #2 phillips and flatten the point slightly. That buries the blade ALL the way and allows you to turn them out. Haven't stripped or replaced any since I started doing this

Make sure you get the yamaha filter for a RX-1 and not a APEX,RX-1 filter is shorter and can accept a socket type filter wrench.
