Here's a little something I added to my rail tips to keep them from going through the track windows again.
These rail tip extensions I added were made back in 1988 for my Exciter 570. I made some extras at the time and found them. They fit on the M7 rails almost perfectly. I would like to make some new larger "bulb" shaped rail tip extensions for the extremely large track windows of 3.0" tracks since the ones pictured were for a 2.52" track.
Does this idea ( a larger version) make sense to you? This might be the next mod everyone has to have? Maybe you only want it after you spear your track?

Are you certain the rail tip went through the window and not a stick? I heard Climbmax ripped his track clean off his Nitro this year hitting a stick on a climb. Usually when the rail goes through the window it pooches the rail as well.

Oh yeah, it was the rail tip. The black plastic tip on the rail is destroyed.
The bad new is, my glue job only lasted for about a dozen miles.

The glue job I did on the track flap failed very quickly but, it could have been my fault. I didn't use acetone to clean the track parts prior to glueing and the bond failed.
I decided to use acetone to clean the area this time and try to fill the void in the track with Goop filling in the missing portion of the track where the paddle had been.
I have ridden the sled twice now and this bond seems to be holding.

Just an update on the glue job.
I rode again yesterday climbing, boondocking and some trail riding.
I turned my Shockwave out three turns for the ride back to the truck and saw 90 mph on the speedo a couple times. Then I thought, you dumby! That track glue job will never hold togther if you keep this up. So, I hammered the throttle again to see if it would hold.
I'm happy to report that all is well and the glue is holding. No new track need, at least not yet.
