track tension

I think you will have a hard time finding someone on here that dose.
Most loosen it off till it ratchets then tighten it up a turn or so on the adjuster nuts.
I lossen off until top of track lug is level with bottom of slides in the middle of skid with know pulling on the track other than its own weight. Not studded
I get about 5000 mile (8000km)out of slides.

If someone on here dose us mannual specs for track they will speak up.

To each his own.

Cheers

Ya sort of what I thought. I usually do it by feel just by pushing down on track at the front near the curve in the rails. If I can push it down by hand without too much struggle I figure its good, but, mine are studded and I think needs to be a bit tighter. What exactly is the "ratcheting". ???

You'll know when the track ratchets... you'll hear it and feel it...The drive axle spins and doesn't turn the track. Usually when track is too loose and suspension is compressed and hard on the throttle.

Could the track ratchet if the sled were to come to a normal stop then ratchet when you tried to move forward again if track was too loose??? I dont think track has ever been too loose to cause this as it always seemed quite tight at the front of hyfax curve area. They have worn in that spot a lot too. Just asking becasue I posted in another topic a couple times about after stopping a few times went to go and sounded like it was out of gear... One time I put into reverse then forward and was good. ANother I just gave a couple shots and away it went. All times was when my wife was driving(her sled it is).

I would be careful of the ratchet tighten a bit method. On my 07 RTX my track is almost shot because the inside cogs on the track are all chewed up. I tightened it when I felt it ratchet but looking at it this year they are pretty rough. Its funny the outside ones are still in good shape
