Hey guys im looking at buying a 2" track for my XTX off of a Polaris Assualt, but i was wondering with it being punch down the middle for the assualt drive if thats going to give me problems with anything in the drive? Or is it going to be like having a ported track?

unless you have smaller drivers i dont think there is enough clearance under there for a 2"track unless you cut it down a 1/4 inch, what pitch track is it? I dont know the specs of the snowcheck special track that came off the assult but, the xtx stock has a 2.52 pitch, if the length of track, height of lugs and pitch of track are the same specs of the xtx then yes it should work.

On the original Assualts they did use the 146" track, but when they went to this new chassis for the Assualt switchback they went back down to the 144". The track is 15x144x2", and 2.52 pitch. My sled is a 09 xtx that is mostly stock, so extroverts are needed. Thank MtViper that's a lot of much needed info!

;)!

To shorten the front of the rails, I removed the black end caps. Then cut off approx 5/16" to 3/8", filed the sharp edges smooth, drilled new holes for the cap and re-mounted it. Becarefull not to shorten the rail to much, as the top of the rail tappers downwards and you'll need to leave enough aluminum to drill into for the top cap bolt.
I cut-off the same amount on the front of the hyfax so that the hyfax mounting screw would line up.
You could also drill/tap a new hole 5/16"-3/8" further back on the rail, and not cut the front of the hyfax if desired.
When you get the skid back in the sled, I use a floor jack to compress the front of the skid, to check the clearence between the extrovert teeth and the rail cap at it's closest point.
It's not a bad job to do while the skid is out!

If you go with 8 tooth 2.52" drivers , you "may" not have to shorten the rail tips. However 9 tooth 2.52" driver's are more efficient and offer a better track approach angle, for better off-trail performance.
