Wondering if anyone tried the 1" fully clipped hacksaw or predator 121" x 14" track. I think it would make a big difference in top end. I was thinking of trying this on my 06 apex rtx. Any comments would be apreciated.

Well at the beginning of the season i was very happy with my hacksaw 14" but so far i reallized that it's not really faster than my buddy 15" hacksaw and i get stuck to easily off-trail. at least it look cooler with the 14" track. i think that i will be back to a predator 15" next year

I'm going to a fully clipped 15" predator next year. Still to decide between 1" or 1.25"..

I have a 14x128 hacksaw and I love it! It did not gain MPH like I thought it would, but the over all performance of it is incredible. I am running big studs and am not fully clipped (yet) which I think is part of the reason for not having a huge increase in MPH. I think those studs are sticking in the ground rather than scratching the surface.
Works great off trail, and on soft and hard packed groomed trails. I broke trail in 3' of powder in the UP and never once got stuck. The predator might be the better way to go for top speed. I was worried about loss of acceleration by going down from the ripsaw. After one ride that worry was gone. It is as good in all conditions, and better in some than the stock track was.

is the predator 1" better than the hacksaw?? i was thinking of going with the hacksaw with 168 1.40 studs next yr maybe. Works good on the doos.

Depends. I think the hacksaw may hook a little harder, but I think the predator is better for speed runs. Something to do with the durameter of the track. I like my hacksaw but don't see big top end numbers. 125 on speedo which is just a tick better than it was with the bigger ripsaw

I'm running the Predator 6-pitch 1" (9837H144) with 144 1.075 Gold Diggers.

When we swap back to back with my buddies Apex ER with his Ripsaw and 144 1.325 Gold Diggers you can really see a huge difference in traction on our looser trails.

Straight line acceleration they seem fairly similar, but for cornering traction and stability the Ripsaw outperforms the Predator by a big margin - especially when trying to decelerate and acceleration through a corner (My back end really swings out easily).

Top speed I don't know yet but they seem fairly similar. Mine has the 22 top gear and depending on conditions that might hurt it. We really haven't lined them up yet either (one time sortof - I was on snow, he was on ice so its not much of a comparison - I pulled about 6 sleds ahead and then he caught up and blew past me).

Probably the best thing to the Predator to me is how quiet it runs. I always found the Ripsaw noisy. I'm hoping the Predator will also be extremely durable (according to Camoplast it is their most durable track).

Is the Hacksaw same hardness as the Ripsaw track?

I was told rip and hack are same soft compounds...just 1 vs 1.25....

predator is camos top speed hard durometer track...If they made a 14x12 predator Id be all over it!..

In hardpack a predator is near same as rip or hack...powder or loose trails rip hooks better, and loose corners at speed, rip works well...studs seem to work overal better though with predator,as the harder compound doesnt allow the STUD to FOLD OVER as much, these soft tracks seem to have alot of stud fold over, due to softness....also,ive seen stud tearout more often with ripsaws.

"machzed" hit it right on the $... Durability! I have never had studs tear out at 1,800 miles. Yes, these machines produce some good torque but IMO a harder durometer track is needed with such torque and I'm leaning towards a Predator.. Also, fully clipped is the way to go IMO.

I went with the Predator track on my Apex after my Ripsaw(Ripjunk) started falling apart after only 500 miles. I now have 2,000 on my predator and it still looks new. I got the Ripjunk replaced under warranty and my dealer let me choose any track I wanted out of the Yamaha accesories book so I got the 9818 and love it!!
