I'm thinking of getting a two-up so my wife can ride on back w/me.
I bought my '05 in December and have 850 miles on it. Dealer said he'd trade for an '05 RS Venture for $700. Reasonable?
My only concern is that the RS Venture has the 120hp 3 cylinder and I've grown pretty accustom to the RX arm stretching ;-).
Anybody own an RS Venture and an RX? How do they compare?
My wife just recently started riding. She is riding my '97 Doo Formula 500 Deluxe. We spent 3 days near Two Harbors, MN and put on close to 300 miles. Problem is, it really hurts her wrist to ride (might be a carpel tunnel issue). Plus, she doesn't really care to drive that much.

Hi
I don't know the new selling price between the two models, but I don't think that is a bad deal (just gut feeling...pretty much a guess). My thinking is that usually the value of a sled will drop by $1500 just taking it out the door of the dealer.
Next, you sound like you are in the same boat as me. I don't ride double, although it would be nice to have that option. But I want something capable of carrying extra bags and luggage for long trips, while still having the power of the RX-1. I think they are crazy for offering the Venture with only a 3 cyl. You almost double the weight of the riders, but take away 30 HP? What are they thinking?
For your wife's wrists, try adjusting the handlebars and let her try it again. Try several positions. Some people are very sensitive to the handlebar position, and having them just a little off can cause pain over time. Might not help her, but its worth a try.

You guys underrate the Genesis 120 motor. They've really got a good bit of pull from what little saddle time I've got on one. I just spent the entire weekend riding with my son-in-law who brought a friend with a brand new (72 mi. when we started) RS Venture.
That thing is quick. With about 175 on odometer, he hung right with my 03 LE up to about 75 mph. Then I pulled away before we had to shut down. The 144" track really digs in and that thing rides way better with the long track. We rode almost 300 mi. yesterday, much of it chitty because it was the weekend, and he was still ready to keep going............I on the other hand was dead
Oh yeah..........72 mi. when he got here...........oil change time when he left

Interesting. We tried using an "ace" bandage to help her wrists, etc...
First day was the toughest for her - one stretch of 50 miles with only a couple side-of-the-trail stops. She rides so slow that when the group would stop say at a road crossing for a minute, she'd just get caught up and they'd go again - so in effect she never got a break. She was scared of the machine and rode at 25-30 the first day.
By day two we were taking much shorter trail segments (10-15 miles between bars), and I told her to just relax, let the machine dart as it will, just go with the flow. Days 2 and 3 were MUCH better.
Now the dilema. Get her a new Rage or Vector - where I know the ride would be so much better than the '97 Doo, OR to bite the bullet and trade off my '05 RX-ER for a station wagon - the RS Vector.
I'm sure I'd be giving up much of that AST (Arm Stretching Technology ;-) that I so dearly love about the RX, but....the things we do for love

I have A Warrior and Venture. The venture has power in the low and mid range comparble to a rx but dosent have the power quite so crisp. Top end depending on the conditions is 100+ My mom has seen 110 once buy she let off on very hardpack.
She is Very Happy with the power of the sled and I was pretty pleased with it also.

Trade
I cannot speak for the Venture, but when I asked my salesman what I'd lose if I tried to trade my '05 Rx-1 for an '06 Apex I about fell on the floor. $3K! So, no trade for me for a couple of years. He did say if I sold it outright I'd probably lose closer between $1500 and $2K. Still bites.

I can trade my 04 warrior for that same price. Deffently not a good deal to trade your 05 if they want that much

We've got both.
The Venture doesn't feel as fast and is a touch slower off the line, but isn't that much slower on top especially on snow covered lakes, the RX-1 just creeps past. The Venture has nice Torque in the trails.
If your trails aren't glass smooth though the Venture is probably one of the best sleds in the moguls i've ridden. You can take the same section of moguled trail at probably 20-30% faster speeds on the Venture. The LT is awesome and personally I think the Pro-Active works better than the monoshock.
$700 sounds like a deal, Go for it! You'll Love the Venture

Hi Bob, sorry I was out of town. I have ridden 2 up zero times.
The 3 cylinder will hang with the RX close enough but 2 up will certainly steal some of the thunder.
Get her a rubber ball and some Play Dough and have her exersize her thumb muscle while she is watching TV or driving
Like NH Jim says change that angle a few times. Be sure to adjust your throttle slack for TORS though.
