Im planning on order a mountain vector, since im no speed demon the Nytro is to agressive to me.How is the mountain vector on bumpy trails?
some people say the rear shocks are junk,is that true? I had a mountainmax 700-01 before and loved it,how will it compare to the vector?I guess the top speed on the moutain vector is 80 mph,am i right?
Have a nice finish of the season guys.

i ride both trails and deep snow, and belive that the 151 track bridges bumps better than a 121 at moderate speeds.

I kind of like my mountain Vector. I had a 2000 MM and I feel the Vector goes in the snow alot like it did. I think mine rides real good on the trail, Boss seat helps. The rear suspension works well for me and I am getting the front tuned in. Everybody said put Woodys Dulleys on the skis I finally did, what a difference.

The track is a different thing, that third window closed sucks. If you ride trails allot you would be way better off with a shorter lug track or put ice scrachers everywhere you can. The Vector is a little heavy for sure but it does ride good.

Just my opinion

Love my vector on and off trails I would like it to see it climb better.

First thing to do is cut the windows out of the track get rid of the drag and put extrovert drivers on you will have no problem with hyfax after that.
And you will like the extroverts what a huge difference I neve believed until i got them. still have to break it in. I am just over 600 miles and the fuel economy is getting better every ride and throttle is seems to be getting alot better but I have changed some stuff

all my previous Yamahas have worn slides a little at first ,and then stopped at a certain point.I had a mountainmax, sxr, srx and a Nytro all were the same.

06 RS MNT Vector good sled

1,100 mile on mine and nothing has broken yet, Track Tension is one of those trade off issues, too tight and hyfax shreds, too loose and track slaps tunnel. top speed (at 8,000 feet) is around 80 MPH clutch engages a little high (4,000 rpm). fuel econ is ok. with the 151 track snow float is good and steering through the wooded areas is good. Still on the real steep tall hills the long tracks with the two strokes are hard to keep up with. Suspension on trail moguls bottoms out too easy but its not a trail sled maybe a different shock would help. left throttle good idea. Seat could be a couple inches higher, handle bars about right, Reverse (option)
would be nice at times.

mnt sledder. :yam:

Was your MM a 141" track and how does the Vector climb in comparison to the MM ? Does it side hill any better or turn any better ? I guess what i'm asking is does it respond better to driver input on hills etc. ? How about trenching, does it trench as bad as the MM and does it have good weight transfer ?
In my experience if you sucked up the front limiter straps on the 00' MM even with the MPI transfer enhancement kit it still had no transfer, if you let the straps out, then it had awesome transfer but trenched bad. I'm debating on which sled to get my wife and the vector mnt. is one option but it would have to be an easier sled to ride then the MM, she didn't care for the MM much.

I like them both I think the rear suspension works better on the Vector, the Vector has a better set of skis and responds real well to rider input.

You can dig a real trench with either machine, I kind of feel transfer is better on the Vector but the MM got me most everywhere I really wanted to go. I'm really not into hill climbing powder and trees are kind of our thing and either sled does a good job.

I had a Mountain Viper in between the two and it did some serious trenching. I never could make it go as good as the MM or Vector. The Vector is heavier and you can feel it some but is fun to ride and the 4 stroke motor is good

There is an awful lot of pro's with the Vector.

I just ordered a 07 vector mtn, here in Sweden it will have a good kayaba hp gas rear shock.its gonna be funny,i miss my 01 mountainmax i had years ago, hope the vector is as good as that one
