Turbo Downpipes????

Are most guys using stainless for the downpipes as well or is heat not an issue on the other side of the turbo. Also what is the typical diameter used for the downpipe as I'm going to order the flange and want to get the right size first time out. The pipe is so short that likely it doesn't make all that much difference size wise but may as well use whats already proven to work.
