I've got at ball bearing gt28 turbo that I'm having trouble getting the water cooling sealed up on and would like to know if I can bypass the coolers and run it dry, without the cooling lines hooked up. Does anyone know if this will cause a problem ?

You'll burn it up without cooling..

I ran my 2871 without cooling at all. Seemed fine.
I hate too much plumbing and crap so I tried it without..........still spins around.

Sounds like you have the wrong water fittings I stock the right ones with o-ring seal.

Well I forgot to say that it's one of those cheapy turbos off E Bay and the reason that I can't get the waterlines to seal is because they threads weren't tapped in straight. They were off a couple of degrees, so I retapped them with a 3/8 pipe thread and hooked up copper tube with compression fittings and these won't hold up to the heat. I'm going to try it without and hope it stays together, Ken.
