Decided to do my own service this year seeing as i just retired. When i removed shield over exhaust to my surprise a broken exhaust bolt. I'm comfortable drilling and tapping out the remaining bolt but would like to do it with turbo removed. Do i have to remove the whole turbo or can i loosen clamp and slide the exhaust side off? Will there be any issues reinstalling the exhaust side of the turbo?
Thanks

I would do it on the sled, less work.

I just did one of these last week. The owner broke the bolt, dilled a hole in it , then broke and easy out in the hole.
I HATE easy outs, I never use them.
I would leave the turbo on the sled. Tape up the outlet to keep debris out. Bolt on the muffler and use the open bolt hole as a guide to drill out the broken bolt.

Use a left handed drill. It'll back the bolt out with ease

Thanks guys all done and ready for some new bolts with nickel anti sieze.
Studs with nuts work nicely. You won't have to worry about stripping out the turbo boss

I like that idea but what about the 2 bottom bolts? Just get them short enough that they don’t bottom out?
