Hey guys,
05 RX Mtn, K&N Filters, under tunnel exhaust( glasspack). Been running this setup for 6000kms.
Issues this past season is the that no matter what jetting I try my sled runs pig rich... black soot all over the tunnel. Yes, Carbs are clean.
Question is how long do these exhausts last? Is a constantly rich running sled a sign of an exhaust pipe with no packing left? Maybe exhaust donuts gone?(But that would be lean & backfiring)
Any ideas what to check or how to check?

My afr #'s are perfect. 11.8-12.2 wot and I still get the black. Only have 1 year with my under the tunnel so I can't help you on that part. Mine is a little lean in the mid range and I think that is where you would see the soot build up. What mains do you have in it? I ran 165's and 160's with the filters. 160 for flat land and 160's at elevation.

My setup is 150MJ, #15 Pilot jets, needle #2 clip.
The sled was always gurggling and bogging in the mid range untill I dropped to #15 pilots.
But it has ran great for 3-4 yrs this way. Now this year it just seems to be lacking. Runs good, no surging or gurggling, no bogging. Just black as heck & feels lacking power.
Anything bigger then the 150's & the plugs look like chritmas tress with the amount of build up on them, they were so rich.
I might just get an A/F gauge and go from there. I want to do a S/C on it in the fall anyway.

Hard to believe it's rich with 150's. Does yours bog in deep powder with the under tunnel exaust? Mine did in the mountains this year.

No, bogging in the deep stuff.
I run 2Cool side vents plus K&N's and the 150's are a nice tan color. Untill now?? I'm going to pull the K&N's to wash them out see if that make any differnece.
1 more trip to the Mtns at Easter and want it running good again.
