I don't think theres any dought. The larger Dia. wheel is the way to go on all 6 I think yamaha made a mistake when they took some track clips out of the track and didn't make the wheels bigger. It's takes alot of miles of riding before the hyfax wears down to the point were the idlers start to touch the track and work the way they should. I remember comming home one night from a 15 mile ride and this thing just didn't want to go something was draging so bad i thought one of the jack shaft bearings was starting to seize. Then come to find out it was the track putting to much preasure on the slides. And we had good snow but it was warm. Hyfax was starting to melt to the track. NOT GOOD. And i'm not going to wait intill i get 1500 miles on the sled before it starts to work better. Thats just plain stupid. Get the bigger wheels you won't be dissapointed. The Doo wheels look cool....

Could you buy a different mount, like the ones off the DOO's to make them fit properly without having to machine the OEM blocks.

Nope! you have to use the stock mounts.
The mounts are on the sled they don't come with the wheels .
When you take the wheel off you will see..

APEXER1 said:Besides not maching the blocks, will going to a bigger wheel hinder any performance or mechical issues in the rear skid, if we only change the 6 wheels and not the rear axle ones. Instead of machining, can you just change the bearing to a 6005 from the 6205 and will that help for clearance. I don't have a lathe.
The 6005 is a smaller od. Maybe someone makes a bushing. That would be the easier way out no dought. But the 6205 is a heavy duty bearing and will probably handle the load better and last longer.
For the record...6005 is 25mm ID 12mm wide.

They make a offeset bushing kit that allows you to reuse your stock wheels too!

The 6005 is 25mm ID - 47mm OD 12mm wide
The 6205 is 25mm ID - 52mm OD 15mm wide
You might be able to bush the 47mm up to 52mm then shim the width. Just find someone to turn your holders down. Get it done while theres no snow then you will be ready when it's time to ride..
Stop yur talken and get er done

I put the different wheel holders on my gt which will lower the wheels 2.5mm and hopefully help with the wear. I am able to use stock wheels with this set up.
