Hey, ran my updated float bowls this past weekend, and wanted to let people know, it cured the problem. They go on a bit tight, and I dred taking them off, cause the main jet now pushes down into a fitting at the bottom of the bowl, with an o-ring seal. But looks like I won't get scared to death on the hills, when she runs like crap.

how do I get the floot bowls? I thought that they were by recall, but my dealer hasn't heard a word. Maybe because I'm in Michigan with a mountain sled.

This is what my dealer told me. This is not a true recall but they will replace the float bowls free of charge to any mountain RX-1 that is having the cutting out problems. All I did is went into my dealer and told them it was cutting out on the steep stuff and they are going to replace them. They were on back order but I just called and they are in.

They'll Do It on SHORT TRACK SLEDS TOO
Hey, yeah, just go into the dealer and tell them the sled is cutting out, and they will get a set ordered. My short track had the same problem as the mt. sleds, it has to do with gas flowing away from the main jet when tilted on extreme angles. I waited over 2 months for mine, but I think they have lots now. Also to let you know, there was no loss of top end or performance, I was worried about that.

What ever happened to the 10 h.p. these new float bowls were supposed to add? I have mine in the garage and I will put them on some time soon. Be careful though. My dealer said one guys doing it himself messed up his carb synching SO bad that his sled won't start now (don't ask me how). Powder Blue

The new float bowls are a blessing no more stalls on steep climps or hard bumps they work excellent. I would recomend them to all mtn guys.

Do they increase capacity? or just seal the main to the bowl to prevent starvation.

They just seal it.

They are a little larger in capacity about 5 ml but the most impt.
is the seal that prevents starvation.

Just to keep things in perspective for Americans.... 1 qt is ~1000 mL, so 5 mL fits into an oil can 200 times.

I just dropped my seat of at the dealer to get it recovered under warranty and talked to the owner about this issue. He said he has ordered a set for every RX-1 mtn he sold. Problem is he tells me they won't get here until next F'ing year . IMO this is pure BS on Yamahas part. They drop the F'ing ball and didn't realize this problem before production  (I find this hard to believe) and the customer has to pay the consequences sp? I am happy with the sled overall but am very displeased in Yamaha's business practice and will be letting thier technical support staff know as much. :x
