Im trying to replace the rear upper guide wheels on an 06 Apex ER. It was a pain to remove the old ones and even harder to put the new ones on. The bearing is a tight fit on the shaft and I was wondering if anyone had any tips to make it easier. Thanks

remove circlip, and use a 3 armed puller with hammer.. Works great!!

Sounds like he already has them off ~ emery cloth the shaft to clean it up and the bearing should slide right on.

remember the design of this is they are too be tight on that shaft.....they do not SLIDE on,the only thing that is next to them is those plastic bushings(white) so they are supposed to be tight.
to install, add alittle lube to shaft and use a socket to tap them on,lay skid on side so opposite side is on a ground(on a piece of wood) and then tap on bearing/wheel with proper sized socket so its against inside race of bearing.
you want to seat these wheels tight up against the two washers, larger washer inside against black plastic bushing then smaller washer against bearing.

They came right off on mine - can't get the circlips off though.

if your upper guide wheels came off easily,i would be alittle concerned....there is only that white plastic bushing that is against the wheel and frame....so if your wheels arent tight on the cross shaft you only have the plastic white bushing holding your wheels in place....doesnt sound too good to me.
is there a chance someone sanded your shaft down cause they couldnt get the wheels on easily? i have heard people doing this cause they thought these wheels were to slide on easily like an idler does.
A nice fix IMO would be to make up some alum bushings in place of those cheap white plastic ones....then the wheel would not have to be so tight on the cross shaft. Similar to the REAR AXLE setup.

Nope they weren't sanded. They fit very precisely. Definitely wasn't a press fit.
I only pulled them once, i'm running a timbersled skid now...so no worries. They use circlips to hold them on.
Maybe the mountain skids are different than the short skids.
