Rex posted an awesome article on revalving the rear shock in the CK skid on the 07 RTX complete with tried & proven valve stack specs. I am looking to revalve my mono KYB Kayaba rear shock on my 06 Attak but cannot find any revalve stack specs anywhere.
Does anyone know where I can find such specs or even know where I can purchase a complete revalved stack set up for my sled? I would be willing to pay for the stack, have it shipped to me, then have my buddy who does work on shocks put it together.
I figured since it is time for a shock rebuild anyway, I might as well revalve it at the same time
Thanks for any help ;)!

Yes that would be interesting, Where I live it costs me a fortune to send mine away to get it rebuilt yet there are people here that can rebuild them but I don't want to be the guinea pig.

Call Mike Carver at Carver Performance, I bet he'd get you what you need.

I hear ya TBay Sledhead, I am from Canada as well, (just west of you at the Ontario/Manitoba border) & yes it is costly for us to have to ship the shock to the U.S then have it shipped back, probably another $60 on top of everything else.
Much cheaper to be able to get the work done locally.

The reason why I am asking for help on this on TY is because I did in fact call Carver Performance last Monday , told the woman what I needed, she was very helpful & set me up with my order, said all the parts would be tied together in proper order & charged it to my credit card, it was all good......until later that afternoon when I got a call from Carver Performance & Mike himself told me he wouldn't send me that stack & cancelled my order :( He said he would only do that set up "in house only". I explained to him the cost of shipping from Canada to there wouldn't make it feasible for me especially since a buddy of mine could do the work. I also explained that I would keep his specs totally confidential & that I was only interested in improving the ride of my sled.
I can respect the fact that he doesn't want to take the chance of his specs going public but if I really wanted the specs, I told him I could easily send him the shock & take it apart when I got it back to see what he did!!
Everyone on here including myself would never do such a thing, we all have respect for one another, share our own tips & experiences & never share anything considered to be confidential material!!!
My shock buddy said we can try to do some revalving ourselves but I am limited for riding time as it is & taking the shock in & out of the sled to fine tune it will eat up to much of my limited riding time!
I sure hope someone can help me find a nice stack set up as it feels like I am banging my head against the wall :o|

Personally, I don't blame him.

Just curious who all have you tried in Canada?
(Both of these are located in Ontario)

I used Peak Velocity last year and Dean did a great job imo and I know he ships all over the place. (Claremont Ont)

There is also Frank at Shocktec, I also heard he is good.

X 2 for Dean at Peak. He did a fantastic job on a KYB monoshock valve stack for me a few years back.

Thanks Irv for the info, I will contact Peak velocity & Shocktech to see if they can help me out.
BTW, I was not putting the blame on Mike, I said I respected his decision but it could have been a win, win, win situation because I would have gotten my stack, he would have made not only a sale from me but many sales as my shock dude said he would have bought revalve stacks from him at customers requests & would have given full credit to Carver Performance for the set up. We realize how much time & effort goes into testing different set ups so credit would definitely go where credit was due ;)!

Shock work is something Yamaha needs to take a clue from other OEM's.Yamaha only gives specs and access to most parts to authorized service centers. These centers are not your dealer in almost all cases.I know it is very frustrating even at dealer level to have to deal with this.It is almost like they are protecting the valving or something :o| I believe open competition is something that Yamaha very much needs in this area.Cripes if I want the specs for AC valve stack on a XC sled raced at xxx location all I have to do is go onto Speedwerks site and there it is.All other OEM's have all the specs right in manual right down to the exact shim stack used!Is a shame when a Yamaha dealer who works on every other type of shock has to send one out because no specs available.Good example is the new Big Body Float. No specs anywhere.I believe piston depth for your shock is 139mm and 284 psi.If you want a nice valve stack for Ohlins I can give you that.

Very interesting points cannondale27!!! Not sure why Yamaha would protect their stock valving though because everyone knows it pretty much sucks, (worse on the CK skid, my last sled!!!) however, the shock rebuilding companies have something to protect as there is much to be gained by revalving these shocks!! I know this is true off hand because I have now tried four different companies & no one is willing to sell me a modified complete valve stack for my sled! Can't blame them for that as they spent the time testing & testing!
I have been a Poo guy all my life & retrieving specs for valving was readily available anywhere, same as for Cats & Skipoo. Not sure why I am having such a hard time finding any specs to try.
Thank you very much for the offer for specs on Olins but I have the KYB :(

Yes sorry I cant help much.In refreshing the KYB's I have seen many that at higher mileage(5000+)the piston has worn quite a space into the bore on one side.I personally would not spend alot of time on the shock because of this.A good refresh with good oil such as Amsoil has made most pretty happy as long as the cable adjuster doesnt break. If you ever switch to Ohlins look for a 09 and later. They have valving almost identical to Carver.

You need to find someone who has a revalve and reverse engineer it, worked for the government on space ships, could work for you.
anyone have a revalve that needs a change of oil?
