Valvetrain Performance Upgrade Genesis Extreme

Thank you for that clarification Allen....I know they made a HUGE difference on my sled....just ask the VMAX4s and SRXs I ride with! ;)!

Take the filters off and try er again...do you think she'll make more or less hp?

Ican't believe all the authorities out there that know much more about my business than I do.

Never dull moment though and thanks for the amusement.

Please don't ask me to describe all this nonsense all over again. It is ancient history by now.

Easy now...woh big fella!

Not saying the ECP kit doesn't work, I believe you Freddie and Allen and the rest of all of you, I just doubt the filters have much, if anything to do with it! I think the ECP package is a "nice product" for the most part and have even stated I would use it n my sled! So relax....

Take the air box off, install a set of Mikuni short velocity stacks and install of of the rest of the components in the ECP kit and I doubt much will change, except for the location of the EVAC vacuum source, which IMHO should be located in the exhaust collector.

Just my opinion.

I would still, If I were a guy that wanted a little more from my Yamaha, buy and run the ECP kit! ;)!

No thanks...this is not my pissing match ;)!

I know the ENTIRE package works as is, therefore there is no need to pull off the filters and try er again.

Something to keep in mind however, when "we" refer to the ECP Filter kit, "we" are refering to the entire package which you correctly admitted works well :D

Well, I can see that there is the potential for a fight here, but the sad part is that the two sides are not in disagreement.

Don't you hate fighting when you're not even talking about the same things?

You measure the horsepower potential of an engine, you are measuring the absolute maximum power that can be produced by it.

You measure the effect of the ECP filter kit, its not going to boost the maximum power all that much, it boosts the MIDRANGE. I may (and have in the past) question the value of boosting the midrange (I'm with Freddy on this, the topic is dead, lets not talk about it again), but I do NOT question whether or not the ECP kit ACTUALLY DOES it.

So I'll say again... you will NOT get 150 hp out of an RX1 by adding an ECP filter kit. More significant adjustment is necessary to do that. Cams, porting, timing... TURBO.

My 2 cents I put on the filters and gutted my exhaust changed nothing else.My rpms went from10,400 to 10,700 on a long run last year. This year it went from 10,700 to 11,000.I had to add tip weight to bring the rpm's back down.

How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a wood chuck could chuck wood? LaLaLa

Freddie, do you have an update on the velocity stack testing? I still like the idea even if it's another 1/2 to 2 hp that can't be substantiated! :D

PS: The filters work!

About the filters,
My sled was running 10,200 bottom to top, put filters kit on no clutching changes and went back out ,ran 10500 till 90mph fall back to 10300 then about 100mph back to 10500 all the way up to 128mph(speedometer,same speed as with stock airbox).Came back synced the carbs same exact results,Id say they work.

More blanket claims, eh?

Why is it there is such a "bandwagon effect" in the snowmobile world?

Truth is, the filters work in YOUR application but have proven to be a problem for some, especially in very cold, high snow dust or deep snow conditions...so, I'm glad you're happy running air filters on your snowmobile and its worked well for you so far. I'll let all four of the manufacturers know how happy you are, so they can start putting air filters on the 07 snowmobiles ASAP...I'm sure they never considered it!

Enjoy your ECP kit and if it's working well for you...thats great! I would look at some other option for my sled, rather than air filters (the rest of the kit is great)...regardless of who manufactures them or sells them.

I say it again, without fear of retribution. I like the ECP concept, I don't like the air filters (many will agree) for snow related motorsports and I don't like having the Evac gasses and entrained oil vapors being brought back into the carbs.

I really don't care about offending anyone, although it is not my intension to do so. However, I won't jump on any fad or badwagon with any product anyone produces, for any reason! If I like it, I will say so...if I don't, I will voice my honest and humble opinion.

Is that wrong?

PS: My asphalt (summer time drag sled) will have K&N filters on it.

I'd say the only thing you proved is the air box is restrictive!

Install the EVAC in your collector and use a PCV check valve in-line, take the stock air box off and install 4 Mikuni velocity stacks on your carbs. Use the rest of the ECP kit, just like you are now and let me know what you find.

I already know the results but be honest with me and let me know how she runs!

Take the air filter out of your car and run it for 30,000 miles or put in a K&N and run it for about 30,000 I will use a filter thanks

Oh yah, geeze I didn't consider that....

I notice that they have been using air filters on snowmobiles for years now!

Hmmmm?
