In the manual for the Vector, it says to adjust the tension on the drive chain...simply loosen the jam nut, and tighten the adjusting bolt to "finger tight", then back it off by 1/4 turn. Then tighten the jam nut again.

Now I know how to do this, I've personally adjusted the chain tension many times on other sleds. But on my Vector, when I tighten the adjusting bolt with my fingers, it goes quite easily to a certain point. However, if I really grip the bolt with my fingers, I can continue to tighten it a bit further.

This may seem like splitting hairs, but my question surrounds the "finger tight" description. Do they mean an easy "finger tight", or as tight as you can possibly get it with your fingers?

I also know about rotating the secondary clutch so that all the slack in the chain is on the tensionor's side of the case.

Any info/experience would be greatly appreciated.

fingver tight

Finger tight means after the bolt contacts the tensioner and stops turning with light finger effort. No more slack. It does not mean as tight as you can get it without a tool.

I've worked with corn fed good ol' boys where I've needed a wrench to loosten their "finger tight" bolts! :?

Excellent! Thanks for the reply. I'm definatley not of the "corn fed good ol' boy" variety, but I did end up tightening it as much as I could with my fingers.

I'll be sure to re-adjust it before the next time I ride though.
