Picked up my Vector GT about a month ago and have been polishing aluminum, custom painting parts, replacing stuff and adding stuff ever since. Am I nuts or is this the least recognized new model snowmobile in recent history. :?
Starting with the ride reviews last spring, about all it got was,"Oh...there was also a new Vector GT there." There have been no ride reviews in any of the rags. Even Yamaha has published only one ad and it is in black and white.
It has new shocks up front, a new-to-this-model rear skid, special graphics, special trim and added features but that must not be enough. Must be it needs a tall seat and a 150 engine.

The Nov. issue of Supertrax had some very nice thngs to say about the Vector. They placed it on the list of the "Dozen snowmobiles that changed the course of history". They said it delivered ride quality, handling and performance in a package propelled by a 4 stroke engine. I believe that Yamaha set a course and a standard for themselves with the Vector/Rage and will continue to improve and build upon that. Just look at the 06 models expecially the Apex/Attak. Just look at the overall balance of handling and power improvements put into those sleds.

The Vector did indeed change the course of 4 stroke and ride technology. However, Yamaha has again exploded into the new inovation market this year, with more new models, options and changes. The press is obligated to mostly cover these sleds I would think. It's gotten to the point where I'm a little confused on the model differences. I'd love a new Apex or Attak, but I'm sure not ready to call my Vector "old news". I'll be riding it for awhile to come and be as proud of it as I was last season.

That GT is the hottest 600 class out there.

I was going to buy the gt vector. I tried the vector last & then i tried a long track. I likes the long track cause of the bumps. I rode both sleds over the same trails & hit the same bumps. I liked the long track as it sucked up the bumps. Also the sled i purchased is the rs rage. Long track was 150.00 cheaper.

Not really a fan of the Nytro windshield. My buddy just got his Nytro and decided to change it after he saw it in person. Both of us thought it was too small and awkwardly shaped to fit well on these sleds.

I've done my time with those small windshields. After going to a mid height on my last sled, I kissed frosting shields and being cold goodby. The wind and snow used to hit me hard in the upper chest and that was noticably gone after switching. I used to like the looks of the short windshields, but now I just look at them as cold and inefective.

I agree with Dusty - New new machines stole the show for the GT. I was also dissapointed with the only add, black & white just didn't make me want to go out and buy one! Must be they hired the marketing folks that did the Polaris 50th.

On the windshield discussion, go to the Nytro forum and look at the picture posted by Steve Nytro Q. This is the sled that had the windshield changed. What you are seeing is a standard black/clear cutdown to miss the hand guards and provide the best wind protection.
