I am thinking about a vector or possibly a nytro if my ship comes in. For any high-flying vector riders, how does it jump? More importantly how does it land? I'be looking for competent trail air 2-3 feet high and 20-25 feet long. How fast are side-side corrections? Do the front shocks bottom hard on landing if you get crossed up or nose it in? For anything over 6 feet high I be looking at a soft snow or downhill landing. The sno-x vectors are sweet but I want to know how the stock machine lands. Cross-country running would best approx. our riding style (no groomed trails/no traffic to woory about) but I would like to jump in the drifts without crunching the front susp. Nytro is promising but at $2200 more than a left-over vector its a little steep. The high seat would slow me down in the turns. (high speed sweepers). Any opinions welcome.

might be an idea to get the vector and stick some racin shocks on it-all the way around. i have a rage-and set front shocks a little firmer, and rear skid all the way firm. i bottom out the back before i bottom out the front. seems to me that the side to side and front to back motions in the air seem to level it out pretty good. my rage always lands #*$&@ first no matter what, so that is nice. i have only "slapped" the front end down once, and i will try not to do that again

My Vector was little nose heavy on big air like you are talking about. I dialed in the center shock, limiter straps and front preload to add a little "nose-up" attitude and it solved the problem 100%
For big air, I also found the rear rebound dampening to be insufficient. Replacing the rear damper and revalving the center shock should do the trick. Unfortunately, I didn't get to that last year, but this coming season I puchased the rear Ohlin and got the center shock revalved a bit stiffer.
If I were you, I'd buy the leftover and use the savings to buy the exact shock setup you require.

Thanks, good to know that the stock vector would be a starting point. I think good aftermarket shocks/springs + some lite weight parts would make a vector fly. The longevity of the four-stroke makes after market add ons worthwhile.
Definitely noted some mag. pics of the vector (in the air) where the rear skid is really sucked up on the front. Great solution (I presume you let out the limiters and stiffened the front skid shock) but how did it affect the handling?

Vector or Nytro should both be good for jumping. The pro active skid works good I jumped my wifes Vector last year and it was fun in the air. I checked out Jimmy Blaze's Nyto/Vector Freestyle jump sled at Nelson's show and it has a stock proactive rear suspension with an ohlins shock (take the bottoming stop buttons on the side of the rail off) up front it uses Fox Float shocks. The freestyle rider said it works great and he was pulling back flips and stunts that the Cat freestyle guys would not even try. The Nytro would be a better starting point but it depends on the cost you can negotiate. 

Just don't land on the rear too hard you will bend tuff it happened to me.I bent the rear shaft under the treansfer adjustmenbt and bent my rear track adjuster and plate mounted to the rail.

how'd u do that?
On the flowage I took about a 10 ft jump off of a ice heave that I didn't know that was there.I was on my way to the ty ride in presquile I was going to ride up there from lake tomahawk.
My brother was following me and he broke his track adjuster too on his xtc.

Sounds like Tom was riding your sled. His big belly did your sled in. :shock:
Tell him you will let him ride your sled when he slims up a bit.
Tom has drove my sled a couple tymes this summer on the asphalt.I even loaded on the trailer one weekend when I couldn't make it and let him take it buy himself,lol
