My buddy bought a 2006 yamaha vector gt last year to replace the rx1 he totaled. He is of course disappointed in the speed he lost on the top end, but would like to gain some off the line, and corner to corner speed. Says he feels a lot slower there so compared to the rest of the riding group now. I have him doing the following mods:
Aftermarket carb springs
Ulmer stage three clutch kit
21/39 gearing out of the nytro

Anything else beside suspension setup that you guys could suggest for his ride? Once dough gets better he will move up to an apex, but finding this clean, low mile sled was a plus when in a pinch after an accident in the middle of last season.

Everything you have done is about the best you can do for that sled. The colder CR10EK plugs showed no noticeable difference in my sled and made it harder to start so I went back to stock.

My only suggestion would be to Sync the Carb's and set up the front suspension to make it handle better. Maybe go thru the rear end and make sure all the idlers are rolling free.

My brother's Nytro is quicker off the line then my sled but I take him on the top end.

Good luck

Throw some SnowTrackers on and he will be able to carry more speed thru the corners. They key word is "carry". They won't make the sled faster but they have alot of bite in the corners allowing you to go faster thru the corner.
