Why has not Yamaha put good shocks on the modell.how is the ride?I had a Mountainmax 700-01 before;is the ride better with the vector mountain on a little bumpy trail?

I think the trail ride is very similar to the old skids (I can't tell a difference) - but the new skid really shines off the trail, the sled seems to help the sled get up on top of the snow better and keep it there. The new skid is a lot better than my RX skid was prior to transfer rod removal. Now that the rods are out of my skid they are comparable, but the Vector skid is still better.
To be fair here are the sleds I am comparing:
2000 MM700
2003 RX1 Mtn
2005 Vector Mtn

In power is it comparable to the mountainmax 700(acc and top speed)?

The Mtn Vector will hang with the RX1 Mtn up to about 40-50 mph. It will take a triple-piped 700MM to beat a stock Mtn Vector from what I have seen. I just don't see a stock 700MM running with a Mtn Vector. I would like to see a stock Mtn Viper run a stock Mtn Vector (the Mtn Viper I ride with is piped).
The Mtn Vector has good linear power, the first time I rode one I had to look twice at the speedo - I was cruising along at 50 and the sound from the motor didn't sound like it was working that hard (very quiet). The RX definetly has more power, but the vector has just as good 'bottom end grunt' in the mountains IMO. I still prefer the RX motor, but the RS does just fine - make sure the races are on a short lake with the Vector

I would have to disagree on the trail riding capabilities.....the vector mountain skid is night and day better than my 03 RX Mountain or my buddies various mountain max suspensions. I take a pretty good beating riding mine but when I hop on my wifes and stand up I can rail the trail at any speed and it is MUCH smoother. My $.02.

My dad and I raced his bone-stock '05 Mtn. Viper vs. my bone-stock '05 Mtn. Vector. I beat him out of the hole then we stayed even through the mid-range and then mine pulled further ahead on the top-end.

I agree with TRXSTER the mtn vector skid is night and day better on the trail. For me it might be a little soft for hard hits, but it rides soooo smooth. Everyone wants to ride my sled on the trail up and down.

vector mountain, front widening kit?
whats the best way to make my 05 vector mountain wider up front? i use it for trail riding only and i wish it was much wider for less effort in the turns on trails.can anyone tell me my options?

You could go with a Holz lightweight A-Arm kit. Cuts weight and widens it out to 41" if I remember right.

The trail manners of the new skids is much better imo than the old proaction skids; much better in the deep snow too.
