I know most of you will think I am nuts but I think I would like a Vector seat on my Apex GT.
I bought my wife a new Vector GT last week and put 250 k on it Saturday breaking it in.
I have decided that I prefer the riding position of the Vector over the Apex as I have short legs and a tall body. The lower seat allows me and her to keep our outside feet planted better in the turns and gives a lower COG for our bodies thus the sled is less tippy than the Apex as well. Additional wind protection from the lower seat would be a bonus.
Soooo, has anyone put a Vector seat on an Apex or Attak, and if so how easy a job is it and what custom work and or parts are needed to make it fit?
I see some have put the Apex seat on a Vector or Rage and talk about cutting the tank shroud on the Vector, Does that mean there will be an open space over the tank at the front of the seat if you put a Vector seat on an Apex. If so any suggestions on filling the gap?
Thanks in advance,
Dave

vector seat
I have a apex gt and a vector gt for my wife. I was thinking of putting an apex seat on her vector but before I put out cash for one I wanted to see if she'd actually like it. I took my seat off and swapped it so she could get a feel for it. She liked it better, but to answer your question I still have both seats off and I could take a couple pictures of a vector seat on an apex. There was a gap around the tank shroud. I will post some pictures later tonight.

Should you decide to do this mod, it wouldn't be a bad idea to post in the Classified section here for someone willing to trade seats. There are several individuals who would swap their Vector seat for the Apex one in a heartbeat.

seat
Here are the pictures, the seat does not seem to fit as far forward as it looks like it should and it seems to wobble a little. That could be because I didn't loosen the apex tank cover to stuff the seat in a little farther.

Thanks for the pics Scott.
Does the seat go over or under the tank cover?
Maybe it is not going to work.

Re: vector seat
You boys need to get with 4Fighter. He put a Nytro seat on a 2004 RX-1. It looks awesome!! I can guarantee you he'll have agreat idea as to how to do a reversal. several members on the RS boards have installed the Apex seat on their vectors.
it involves cutting the tank plastic to clear the taller seat foam on the Apex seat.
So you would have the opposite problem to solve.
Not sure, but could the tank plastic and seat be swapped out together or are there big differences in the tank plastic between the 2 models?
ask this ? on the RS board, I'm sure they can tell you.

I thought of that Jamie but I am not absolutely sure I will like it. I think I can get a Vector seat for $150 or so and then I have options.
Next owner probably will want the stock seat as well.
Thanks for the reply.

I will look when I get the sleds home. Apex getting a revalved Ohlins courtesy of Yamaha.
By The looks of what the whiz posted I think it will go on but leave a hole.
I have a tank bag which covers that area so likely no real issue.
Thanks for the response,
Rice
