My 2006 Apex GT still has an same issue with the Chain Case. It doesn’t suck the gasket in anymore after long WOT time after the updated one was installed. But does use some oil only after those runs. I believe the next step is to vent the Dip Stick. I can’t seem to find the post that has the pictures.
Does anyone know where it is?

Thanks,

Where does the oil go? Is it leaking by oil seals or drain plug, you should be able to see some kind of oil residue in the belly pan or inside your tunnel at the chaicase driveshaft exit...if its LOSING oil it has to be LEAKING somewhere!

Extra venting is acheived by making extra grooves/cut-outs at the DIP STICK'S base, just use a OLFA utility type knife and make extra grooves.

I did mine this year because I run long WOT lakes. I just cut some out of the groove on the dip stick and allowed some air to circulate.. So far so good...

Have you done a WOT run yet with that? does it pump oil out the vent?
I just cut a little on mine but haven't had snow to test it. Was gonna go to OF next week but doesn't look good there either. :whine:

venting is an issue, also, i don't like that the dip stick isn't magnetic like the old viper's were to get the little metal filings out

I have drilled and jb welded in small brass barbs (like what comes in a primer kit) into the chaincase above the dipstick where the case is most horozontial. I then connect small fuel line to the barb and run it up to the coolant hose above, wrapping it around the hose once, then routing it back down into the belly pan. I have had 0 chaincase leaks, or problems on the ones I have done this to. Extended high speed (railbeds, laketops) running can still suck in the updated seal/cover if not vented more. Just my 2 cents.

Can you post a pic?

Yes I have made several WOT runs, some as long as 5 miles. I have put 1000 miles on the sled since doing this and have not lost one drop of chain case oil that I can see. I check it every ride, when I check my oil and it has not moved... I also used stinky gear oil in my chain case so if any was getting out I would smell it quickly, I have a nose for gear oil..

No issues with oil pukeing out, have 2 slits cut on mine one on each side the length of the boot- width of toothpick.make sure your not way overfull on oil?is there oil coming out of the dip-stick?

I did this on customer's sleds. If one comes in for service I will grab some pics and post. It is really fairly simple to do. I didn't want to go cutting into the dipstick rubber, because one of my customers did that, then put the sled on its side and lost half his oil.
