The oil filter re-locators offer some nice features. Just like anything else though, there is a trade-off. In this case, it adds additional external oil system connections not covered by warranty. Even with a relocator, you can still make a mess. Also, to me they are a bit expensive, for a once a year use.
There really isn’t any easy way to change the Oil Filters. But, we only have to do it once a year. If you are careful, use a few oil rags and take your time, changing one can be done w/o making a big mess. Besides, you really ought to be taking things apart once a year down there and lookin' at what else is going on in "the land down under."

It would have been nice to have some type of side panel or a panel underneath to get to that darn oil filter. You have to take the airbox assembly off which takes a while to get to alone. Have to take the side panels and headlight off before getting to it.

I did manage to get the filter off from underneath eventually, but it took forever and I'm missing some flesh from my knuckles.

Where I get to using force, etc. I have a pair of real thin leather gloves. Saves the stiches, etc. But, I too have a bit of flesh laying around. But the rough edges "flesher eaters" are much worse on the Cat.
