I'm looking at selling my rx1 and buying an 06 venture rs,I tried an 08 last year and found it tippy are they all like this. Also wondering how they are solo riding with some buddies compared to my rx1. Any issues with an 06 that I should watch for.

I am new to the sport. I have an '06 I bought a couple years ago and love it. I have no problem with just me on it or with the wife, but I am not one for blasting around at 70+ mph. Does everything I need it to.

Have a friend that rides a 07 VENTURE RS solo and just loves it. These sleds can be set up to ride solo very by adjusting the suspension correctly. Unlike the VENTURE GT which is equipped with very stiff springs/settings for two up riding or 300 lb plus riders.

A word of caution, the 05-07 VENTURE RS motors had potentially bad cam chain tensioners. If they fail, it can lead to a toasted a motor. Updated cam tensioner's (starting in 08 models) were coded with a blue dot, the original tensioner had a orange dot.

thanks for the info guys, now you got me reconsidering because of the chain tensioner issue

One nice thing I see with that style venture is that the rear seat can be removed making it more like a one-up sled as compared with the newer version RS Venture GT/TF. There was one guy on here who put 40,000 + miles on one (not sure the year) so the engines are reliable.

And there was no recall on them? That is odd. I guess I need to look and see what color dot I have, that is if I can find the tensioner! LOL

Hey guys only been out a couple of times but so far I love it. I've had it up to 150kms an hour and I let it go, seem to be still picking up,went trail riding with a few buddies one had the 1200 skidoo and the other had a nytro we were cruising pretty quick in the trails and I had no problem keeping up with them. Not tippy at all, the only problem was a lot of darting so I put a set of doolies on and solved the problem. I'll keep you posted but so far I would recomend this sled to anyone

Glad you are enjoying it.
150kmh eh :sled1: ! Is that in the Yamaha break-in procedures :jump:
Where are you riding BTW, sounds like awesome trails!

I,m past the initial 160km mark on the yamaha break in schedule which was to keep under 6000 rpm so I decided to let it rip to see what it had, the next schedule is to keep under 8000 rpm until 500km which it didn't go over . I'm up in northern ontario canada the trails are awesome but that run was on a lake.
