Very Frustrated!

Ok,here it goes... Code 84 came on last week [Tors},had to wait till this weekend to take it to a "YAMAHA DEALER" in Houghton Lake,Mi.,wont say who it is,theres only one.During this previous week I called 4-5 Dealers to get some info or a quick fix [By pass?],was told 4 different answers.Why is my first question. Second,was told by the reparing dealer that it was fixed and the code would "Reset" itself,this was Saturday mid-morning,Saturday afternoon I was left on the side of the trail with an 84 code.Dealer said when I picked the sled up that they didnt really know what else to do except to adjust throttle cable.Dont understand that if youre a "Yamaha Dealer" only,wouldnt you know how to repair the brand you are selling? Can someone please tell me if there is something I can do to by-pass this or offer some other info? P.s. it runs like crap at around 5k rpms,but if I go faster,it runs like normal till I let off,then it dies.I know that is part of the Tors process. Thank in Advance,Dean 07 Attak GT

It tells ya how to bypass it in the owners manual. I f some one doesn't post up with instructions i will go dig it out. I would be searching for the problem tho. If ya do bypass it get a tether ya don't want that expensive thing leaving ya chest deep in powder on its way to the closest tree

I looked in the manual,but it doesnt tell you where the location is.Couple of dealers told me that there isnt a by-pass,thats what is so frustrating.Thanks you for your time,if you find more info,it would be greatly appreciated. Dean

Buddy had that happen on his a couple years ago, and at first the dealer though it was just freezing up since it was quite cold. Brought it inside and it was good to go a couple hours later since they couldn't get the code.

We got about 20-miles down the trail and it started getting the 84 again. We called the dealer and they sent a truck down to pick it up. They weren't sure what to do with it, but it was good to go in the morning (cost us a day riding).

What actually cured it? Not 100% sure since a couple things were done:
1. They changed out the TORS (or maybe just the TPS, can't remember) with another sled he had in-stock.
2. They took the throttle assembly apart, and for some reason it was full of grease. They took the throttle off one on the floor and no grease. They cleaned all the grease out and reassembed it.
3. It sat in a heated shop all night.

Dealer seemed to think it was the grease getting cold and not allowing the throttle/cable to move freely, but he changed the TORS out as well and hoped not to see us back! Dealer seemed to be very helpful up in Timmins, Ontario.

Then the next morning leaving our next stop, we put a piece of gum on the underside of the throttle. It was probably about -25C and the sled started up fine. But within a few seconds 84 started flashing and he wasn't happy. Luckily the code went away when the gum was pulled off...

There was a significant widespread problem with the Vector in its early years - TORS engaging inappropriately. The solution was a recall wherein Yamaha replaced the entire ECU.

My apex mountain had had the same code when riding through powder, i had snow in the joint of the throttle. Once i cleared it no code showed up.
One thing i noticed if the underneath nut on the throttle is too tight then the tors will go off.

no probs Dean, hope you get it back soon.
One more thing if you set up a lefty throttle make sure its set right that also will play on your tors.
