I went to Novi for the sneak peak tuesday to look at the viper. Did anyone notice the big differances between some of the vipers. Some (I'd say half) had the hoods rivited shut so you could not look inside. these same sleds had no vent in the front of the hood for the new radiator they are supose to have, instead they had the full length heat exchanger under tunnel like the cats. My guess is these vipers had cat engines and clutchs! Anyone else notice this. If you go to a sneak peak take a close look.

They are all mixed and matched Prototypes for the sneak peek showings.

I think there were some Cats with Suzuki motors that were cosmetically made up as Vipers for early photo shoots and promotion videos. In one of the Yamaha videos on YouTube where all the Yamaha guys ride each Viper model around and say how good they are, I can hear the distinct sound of the Suzuki 1100 4 stroke twin. Its kind of an industrial sounding droan. Not the much better sound that Yammis 3 cylinder makes. Its possible that these sleds are making the show rounds now just for external display purposes. Went to the show in Buffalo NY on 3/28 and all Vipers there were Yammi engined. Different sleds are going around to different parts of N. America for shows.

my thoughts exactly! I got excited when I first looked under the tunnel and saw full heat exchangers thinking the over heating issues of the nytro are over. Then big dissapiontment when I learned that would not be in production. Wonder if the viper will suffer the same over heating issues as the nytro, as it will have the same style cooling system?awolb69 said:I think there were some Cats with Suzuki motors that were cosmetically made up as Vipers for early photo shoots and promotion videos. Thought this thread was about clutches on the new Viper? Maybe the reason side panels where riveted on was they are getting sick of the general public pulling prototype or display units apart looking for a shooter on the grassy knoll from what they heard on the internet or trail side bar.
