Viper Handguards

I bought the plastic guards with aluminum mounts (mostly due to the strength and integrity), but understand that the center strap has to be cut. Has anyone tried to install hand guards on a Viper XTX SE or STX DX with the mountain grab strap. Any help is greatly appreciated!

I have a 2014 viper and I have the plastic mounts and I would recommend them to anyone. I had the metal ones at first and they put a nice hole in the top of my hand when I rolled it one time. I put the plastic ones on and I have rolled it lots since and they just flex and bounce rite back.
