Viper XTX SE Upgrades

With proper cluth machining and over drive I could max out at about 110 mph with the 252 hp. Now that I am going another 70 hp and this machine will mostly be drag raced we are going the longest we can for top end speed. The dyno said my top end on the current gears was 117 but in real world it could not do it.

With that power you should hit 117 if your machined for overdrive and have stock gears. If your not your clutching is off. JMO. I saw 117 last winter whenever the trails were firm and I'm only running 6.5#'s.

Well in any kind of setup of which there has been 4 over the 2 years. I have never seen those kind of top end numbers. on shaved ice track I am seeing 112 bangig off the limiter because the 1.6" even with studs will not hook up. I ran 3/4 of the 660' track at half throttle to get it rolling forward and popped the gun at 112 in the last 100 ft. On snow even with the hygear coupler in it, it tries to lift the front end the whole length of the track with the skis 12" in the air at the end of the 660' run. With that much air under it and so much energy wasted trying to lift it up there is no way to get the max out of it.

It has stock gears it 21/41 which has a mapped mathematical top speed of 110 at 8800 rpms, so at 112 that is all it will do with the overdrive. you are only picking up about a 1/8 to 1/4" on the belt on the primary with overdrive.it is the 8 tooth 3.0 pitch driver.

Now at over 300 hp I am putting in the 24/35 set and lets see what she will do! 10 tooth 2.52 driver with 144" x 14" x 1" hacksaw track - the paper says 158

You can see the LTX with the 8 tooth 2.86 with 21/41 does a mathematical 161 mph at 8800 rpms but we all know that is fiction or only when dropped out of a plane - even then terminal velocity?
