I have been working on a new shop 36x56 and it has a dedicated sled bay. With the sled lift ect on the floor and all the benches I am looking to get both sleds off the floor and have them on a "shelf" over my tool boxes to save some room.
I was hoping to use my sled deck ramp to drive up on the shelf. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I should go about this? Thinking about using steel tubing but I am not much of a welder... Thinking wood is too bulky and might take up a lot of space as well.
All help on this would be very much appreciated

I believe it is Blue Dave who stores sleds over work bench look at his avatar and I believe there is a post. He made a slick platform he raises with chain hoist and can roll onto the platform I believe he has lighting for his work bench mounted on this as well

You can use wood. I built a 8' by 8' box two years ago to store 2 sleds in the box and 2 sleds on top of the box. I used 2x6 for the structure. Just don't span more than 8' between posts.
There is a thread in the lounge somewhere about it. I think I called it a toy box.

Pallet racking is an option as well. There are a few shops/businesses that have a storage shelf above a bench they made on a shelf of racking.

If it is made strong enough, wood or metal will not really matter. All depends on the pricing and your skill with the materials.

I would get on of the harbor freight winch systems that are around $120 and mount it in the ceiling then create a platform to drive the sleds on and lift it all up at the push of a button. Once in the air then I would use a swing out arm to make sure that little chap lift is not what holds it up there. Good luck I want this in my shop someday.

keep your eyes out on craigslist for a pallet stacker. its a manual forklift. They run $1000 new, so a used one can be had for a couple of hundred. Need to make sure it has the lifting capacity for your sled and will lift high enough for the shelf your going to put the sled on. Comes in handy for other tasks as well, no longer need to get a lift gate truck for pallet delivery.
