I just wish I knew when my hand warmers would work on a regular basis. You never know if they will work 'til you get down the trail.

The U.S. Marine mammal protection act forbids any marine products to be sold, possessed, hidden.....anything in the USA.
But they are available if you live in Canada.

I've ridden down to -50. Used mitts and wear Sorel boots. Rode in this weather for two days. I was at my limit and wouldn't consider gloves at that temperature. Maybe with gauntlets they would be OK. Someone else brought up a good point. If hand warmers failed you would be in trouble. Yamaha has the warmest warmers I've ever had. At this temp I was still a notch off the highest setting. It was also the only time I wish I had a heated visor. On one of the days I frosted up (own fault) 5 miles before end of ride and couldn't clear it. Rode in looking through a hole the size of a dime. Other issue is that your sled won't start unless inside overnight or you have a blockheater.

It should start Ski-Dog, I have done it many times before with no block heater. I use high-grade 0W40 fully synthetic oil. I have seal skin parka, boots and gloves and I am always warm on the coldest days. The -100 Baffin boots are the best.

Ski-Dog, we had -15 F and the sled turned over. It took a bit to get going though. I've considered the heater option.

if you want warm feet buy baffin or altimate boots they are very simaler and good for -100f . i have had a pair for about 8 years and they are comfortable light like a sneake and not too bulky. i wear nothing but normal tube socks with them and they keep your feet dry. the warmest cloths are made in canada. my feet are warm even at -40f in quebec with one pair of socks and comfortable to 40 above

I tried out the new Sorels last night. They are rated for -100F. It was only about -18C (around 0F) and my feet were toasty. Almost too hot, but not uncomfortable.
With the undersole moisture capture area my feet came out dry (I was surprized). I still pulled out the liner and undersole piece to fully dry them out.
One problem I found was on my wife's '98 Venture 700 my feet wouldn't quite fit in the foot openings at the front of the running boards. On the 05 RX-1, they just fit, but it was snug.

My sled at -40 sitting overnight turns over ok but won't start. 2 other Rx's also did not start. Impalapower -15 and -50 are two different things. At -35 the sled did start. I invested in a block heater and they work great.
Before the block heater at -40 I had to pour hot water over the engine to get it to start. My T-cat buddy has to do this regularly at most anything below freezing so I tried it and it worked. The block heater is a better option if you have somewhere to plug it in.

My last RX had no problem with 4 days of -40 to -50 weather. I was using Amsoil 0W30 and we started the sleds each night for a couple of minutes. The 2 Smokes had much more difficulty.
Mitts and gauntlets are the only way to go in those temps.

I use gauntlets when it gets below zero I have lousy circulation in my hands and feet been frost bit one too many times light gloves are all you need with them. I use Mitts any other time having the fingers contact each other seem's to keep them much warmer it's not an issue when riding but when you have to stop for an hour and work on your buddies polaris my hands and feet get cold fast I use the pouches in the boots when it gets real cold. I could care less how they look or what anybody thinks, without them i would be sitting at home and i'd much rather be riding As for starting -37F turned over slow but popped off after about 10 seconds Any colder and I think a block heater is a must.
