I was popping out of reverse.I needed a oil change anyway,so I took it to the dealer. He does the oil change and I ask him to check out the gear box then calls me on the phone and says gears are toast (rounded off?) his words. Shift forks are shot and the whole thing needs a rebuild-850 bucks.I do have the Y.E.S 3-year deal.Any ideas? Everything was running fine except for popping out of reverse every now and then.A total rebuild? Im very skepty.

If you are still covered by YES then your dealer should fix it under warranty.

Is your dealer telling you that YES will not cover this?

I had a problem with my chaincase last year on my '07 Attak GT, and I have the 5 year YES. Was riding one night and after stopping on the side of the trail, the sled just wouldnt move anymore...and was making a god awful noise from the chaincase. Brought it to the dealer next day....the post that the chain tensionser swivels on had busted off (inside the chain case). It was all replaced under YES..chain case....tensionser...bolts...gaskets...seals...everything replaced under YES.

Then again, it all depends on your dealer and if they want to take care of you.

first...a good dealer helps..second.....this shouldnt happen to a 10,000 snowmobile....if the dealer refuses to take care of you...yamaha customer service is the next step...maintain calm firmness of your position...you will not pay for something that should be covered and you have a forum of thousand of yamaha sledders to express your disdain if not taken care of...all very calmly and professionally...
I have had things covered well out of warranty like this will a proper delivering of facts and firm calmness...and thats why I ride yamaha..
if you have a good position and make sense ...you get it covered

If you have YES coverage then you should not have to call anybody. Your dealer should fix it under warranty plain and simple.

The only reason that your dealer could refuse you is if he believes that the damage was caused by abuse or unathorized repairs or modifications that you may have done.

who put the ice ripper on? if it was the dealer your home free...if it was you they might try to blame you...but they have to prove what you did or didnt do caused the failure.

Just got back from the dealer. They said all parts are under warrantty, new shift forks new gears, new rolers all of the contents of the gearbox.I just have to pay 2-hours labor.!60.00

YES should cover both parts & labor.

I can not believe that your dealer only charges $30/hr !! Even though $60 is a great labor price for a job like this you still shouldn't have to pay anything.
