I noticed a clunking noise in the rear suspension. When traveling thru moguls at slow speeds and stutter bumps at slow speeds. From what I have read in some of the posts, with the same concerns. Is that this is the nature of the beast. I recently inspected mine and checked the bolts, top and bottom to check for loose bolts. They were all tight.I noticed something that concerns me.The control rods have quit a bit of side ways slop.I can rock them back and forth a least a 1/16" of a inch. The slop is at the top of the rod behind the big wheel for the track.I compared this to my 98  Sx.The control rods on that machine have no slop at all.
Could this be part of the clunking noise problem? Is this slop exceptable? What would be the best way to correct the problem?I appreciate any help.
Thanks

I removed the bottom plastic spacer on the control rods and turned the adjuster up 1/8 th inch and got rid of the problem.

I have the same problem. It drives me crazy. Told my dealer about it as well. It sounds like a busted front shock, but I checked every thing on the skid and it seams ok. Greased and re greased and that sound is still there. Any one else have any sugestions??????????????? about this low crawl clunking??????????????????

Have you guys checked the side to side play on the tranfer rods.Mine are so loose. It seems like there should be spacers to take up the side to side slop. The clunking seems worse in the warmer weather.Other than this annoying problem,I love the sled.Dukester and Snow Bandit thanks for you suggestions.

Guys-
dont worry about it -its just the control rods moving as the skid reacts to bumps-you are hearing the plastic shims in the rods bottom out -if you tighten up the transfer so there is none you will find the noise goes away

tranfer rod clunking
DYNAREX ,
I'm confused by what you mean by tightening the transfer rods up.I have them adjusted to the factory setting.I like the way the machine feels
at this setting. The machines, weight feels balanced for my weight. Please
clarify what you mean.

Beawarrior-
I didnt meant to adjust the transfer on the rods as a permanent fix, just to try it to see how the noise stops when there is no transfer-i run aftermarket control rods and have them set at full transfer-(large gap at top) so the sled hooks up awsome but in the rough stuff i hear them "clanking" as the skid pivots over the bumps

Re: tranfer rod clunking
The noise is unavoidable unless you eliminate the transfer of the transfer rods..
All you can do without changing the way the sled feels... IS TO LIVE WITH IT!!

Is this clunking noise associated with something you can feel, especially what seems like the left side? or is there nothing you can feel with your feet?
The source of my noise was a loose front shock mount, but if you checked yours out and it was tight, then I hope you can find the source.
