Hi guys!
Last year I had an 2003 RX-1 ER, I thought it was to expensive so I sold it. Got an SRX700 with a 136" 2" track instead.
Now I`m dreaming about a fourstroke again (notice, only dreaming).
If I were to fit a 2" lug track on a Warrior, what would I have to do to it?.
I guess I would have to go down on the drive wheel size to make space for the lugs in the tunnel?.
Would I have to relocate the skid ?.
Anyone out there who have a warrior with a high lug track?.
I like climbing so lugs are important to me.. .
Wellwell that`s all.. .
Joakim.

Hello Joakim
I have a 04 warrior that I have extended to 159x15x1.5" and wow what a difference! Climbs alot better now. If you want a track with 2" lugs you will need 8 tooth drivers for sure. But I´m not sure if there will be clearance for the 2" lug track in the tunnel, maybe you will need to drop the skid 1" or 2" to get the clearance.
Any body out there know if the skid is to be dropped to get clearance for a 2" lug track?
Ernie

Hi MSRX-ERNIE, thanks for the reply!.
I don`t think I would go with a 159" track, I want a sled that climbs well but also is easy to ride. Maybe you know what I mean.. .
Do you have 8 tooth drivers?.
Does anybode know how tall lugs you can have in a warrior without having to change the driver wheels?.
That said, I guess pulling the drive axle and put on new drive wheels really isn`t such a pain in the #*$&@?.
I don`t know why but I somehow don`t like the thought of relocating the skid because this messes up what the Yamaha engineers spent lot`s of time to figure out.. all the angles and #*$&@.
Maybe I could make a compromisse, let the tunnel clearance deside what lugs to run, but my heart beats for the 2" lugs.
It would be awesome if all you had to do to put a 2" lug track in, was to change the drivers.
Or am I just being a wuss when it comes to relocating the skid?.
The skid is relocated in my SRX and it`s impossible to make it wheelie. I`m thinking something is wrong with the skid placement.. . However I`ve never pulled a single skid in my life. I`ve helped out friends but I`ve never pulled one my self.
So, a Warrior mountain conversion would be cool for me to do.. . Guess you can`t call a 136" track for mountain track nowadays.. but it`s all in the lugs if you ask me

There are 1" tunnel protectors all the way around. These will have to be removed.
Going down to 8 tooth drivers gains 0.4" of clearance. Note that apex mt has 7 tooth 3" pitch drivers, which are actually BIGGER than 8 tooth 2.52" pitch drivers, and it comes with 2.5" track. What this means is that with an additional 0.35" of clearance from a 9 tooth driver, they've fit in a track that is an extra 0.5" over what you're looking to fit. As long as you remove ALL the tunnel protectors from around the driveshaft, a 2" track will *probably* fit.

Hi LazyBastard, nice to see that you are still around. I think I remember your nick from when I a had the RX-1 ER.
I took a look at Hartman Inc, they had a lot of cool stuff.
http://www.hartmaninc.com/warrior2005.html
But I didn`t find out wether a relocation of the skid is necessary or not, but your thoughts seems reasonable.
Hopefully all you have to do to fit a 2" track is to fit 8teeth drivers, guess it`s cool since you then ofcourse will fit NOSLIP drivers.
Gees I would really like to to this if I got a Warrior.
I don`t know why but I`m sure it would climb better then my SRX.
Oh another thing, the ski distance on a trail sled is wider then a mountain sled, I guess there`s little I can do with the ski distance on a Warrior?.
The more narrow it is the better it is to sidehill with, or am I wrong?. Atleast I think so.. it`s easier to throw from side to side.. .
Are the fourstrokes that great?.
Convince me

I just put 136x2 challenger track into my stock RX-1 ER with stock 9" drivers. I had to remove the heat exchanger and tunnel protectors, but it fits with stock drivers. Only about 3/8" clearance from the front heat exchanger.
Going to togwotee this weekend for the week!

Hi Otis!
That sounds awesome.. !.
Have you changed the gearing in the chaincase?.
Or will it work with the stock gears?.
(thought maybe it would be to high geared).
Oh, a dumb question, what is the heat exchanger?. I don`t know what it is so I`ll just have to ask.. .
Where did you get your extension from 121" --> 136" ?.
Does the ER and the Warrior have the same rear suspension?.
Are you happy with the track selection ?.

The front heat exchanger is on the front of the tunnel and is sort of a radiator looking thing. It has 2 bars welded on it to keep studded tracks from puncturing a hole in it. I also removed the tunnel protectors which are bars like in the front to keep studs off the exhaust and tunnel.
I am geared down with a 23t top (from original 24t). Rejetted down from 165mains to 150mains with ECP kit.
Clutches with the help of Allen Ulmer going from stage 3 kit back to stock helix 46/36 with warrior white secondary spring. Taking all mid and tip weight off super tips and leaving a little at the heel.
2" track is max with stock drivers. I will probably still under rev a little since my helix is still too steep. Not enough time to get another installed leaving Friday for Togwotee.
I am running an 06 Apex RTX mono rear skid with TracksUSA rail extensions. Perfect suspension for aggressive trail use.

Hi Otis!
Thanks for the nice reply!
So you removed one of the coolers inside the tunnel?. Wount you get less cooling then?.
I guess installing 8tooth no slip drivers wouldnt be a bad idea since the drive shaft will have to go off anyway?. Also it will gear it down naturally.. if you know what I mean.
I guess the RX-1`s doesn`t have any bogging problems in powder , hehe?.

a warrior with 8 t driver with stock gearing would be perfect for the 2" track.

Don't remove the cooler/heat exchanger only the stud protectors.

Gees guys. Last night I put my SRX out for sale. 20minutes later I got an acceptable bid, but the guy lived far south in the country so I told him that I wanted to see if any local buyers showed up.
This morning I contacted a guy with a 2004 RX-1 Warrior that lived only 300km`s from me, the sled only had 100km`s on the clocks and was mint.. good price too. It was sold this morning.
So I`m back on the "thinking bench" for a while.. .
So, a warrior with 8 teeth drivers will suit a 2" lug track perfect?. That`s cool.. .
Gees I didn`t sleep much last night.. was thinking of going up a hill with a warrior.. feeling the power.. looking down at the nose that is so typical for the RX-1.. listening to the 4cylinder music of the engine.. gees.
But it`s hard... I love my SRX and I`ve spent much time on it.. I don`t want to sell it.. but I also really want a warrior.. .
We`ll see what time brings.. .
Thanks alot for the replies, I got to know everything I wondered about.
Thanks.

Kimoajaj, my sled before I bought my warrior was a 98 Mountain SRX with 136" 2" lug track and I just loved that sled but it handled awfull in deep snow didnt get on top of the snow how hard you tried. But in 04 I saw the red and silver limited edition warrior in Yamaha´s web page and I just had to have it.
After riding the warrior for 2 seasons I wasnt happy with how it handled in deep snow conditions it was too short even for a 136" and very nose heavy (getting stuck all the time). So I decided to buy a tunnel extension, rail extensions and a 159" Crossover track. And all I can say now is wow what a difference. I havent yet been stuck since I extended that warrior. When talking to my fellow sledders now I call my sled my mountain warrior! It is amasing how much improvement there is by extending it and relocating the skid. I´m glad I did that.
My advice to you would be, buy a mountain sled if you love to ride the mountains! You wont regret it! Those fourstrokers are nose heavy and are not the best in deep powder but with a little effort they are almost unbeatable and they are rock reliable. And get rid of that stock exhaust it weighs a ton!
My next mod for my warrior is to get a lightweight battery and relocate the battery to get the sled a little lighter at the nose. Almost cant wait to do it.

Hi MSRX-ERNIE ! Thanks alot for the reply!.
Man you Warrior looks fantastic, awesome!.
Today I sold my SRX and it looks like I will be buying a 2004 Yamaha RX-1 Warrior with 2600 kilometers on the clocks.
It`s an expensive sled for me being only 21 years old, but sledding is what I love the most so.. you understand.
Will have to pay around 13636$ for that warrior.. expensive in Norway. But there`s nothing I can do to that.
Will be going to the bank tomorrow, this will be my 4th loan in my bank so I bet they will give me this loan too. Got 6060$ for my SRX so I have a little cash too.
This season it will probably only get a bar riser, hooks & strap, maybe guards. Hope to get a 2" lug track in the future.. don`t know if I will extend it.
Will put on some wide ski plastic or/and maybe get other skis in the future.
Gees can`t wait.. really wonder if I will be able to pick it up before the weekend..
