for what it is worth.... I have 8,204 miles on my ripsaw track. On lug peeled off last week. Not a bad life in my opinion.

ripsaw
Ran a ripsaw on my 2001 SRX and abused the hell out of it, my buddies call me spinny because i have a habit of doing burnouts on pave and whenever I get a chance the throttle is pinned going off banks crossing roads etc. couldn't abuse a track more and couldn't damage it. The 121 on my 05 RX-1 didn't hold up as well one season 5000 kms and it was missing lugs and showing threads. The 2 136 tracks I'm now running on my 03 and 05 are as new as the day the came from the factory, lots of hard miles and no wear. 3 out of 4 ain't bad and in my opinion it is a great track. Alot of these tracks out there and alot of people will agree with me. LB is entitled to his opinion and you cannot discredit his knowledge but I do agree it is a dead horse. Alot of friends of mine have tried the predator/carve and have good results with this track. I plan to try one next year if I can get a 144 for the XTX.

I just bought a NEW shotgun X with 144 premolded stud holes off of e-bay for 265.00, that is by far the best deal I have seen out there on any track. For what it is worth, my Son's RX1 had 9700 miles at the start of the season with the OE predator, which was in great shape still even thou we replaced most of the clips. Only changed it to swap off a rip saw off his old vmax that had 5k on it and we were selling the sled. The ripsaw had no concerns anywhere on the track. He now has put another 2 miles on the ripsaw so far this winter for a total of 7k, there is still not a flaw in the track!

In November at the Novi snow show they sell new ripsaws for 300.00 The shotguns on e-bay are great deals, not trying to dis the TY sponsors but my thoughts are money saved is money earned. If they are willing to match the price, by all means buy from them.

I have just over 1000 miles on a new 136" ripsaw, and hard miles at that. I'm on my 3rd set of hyfax in that time period. Looks like new, no rubber missing, no rips.
If it was such a junk track it would seem odd that every manufacturer offers it as OE.

When it comes to LB and the ripsaw beware! He hates the track and is biased about it. As has been said the ripsaw is a good trail rider, tons of people has put thousands of miles on them. I got 8,000 miles till I tore mine on a sharp rock sliding down hill riding double. The rock cut one of the reinforcing bars in half width wise.
There was no wear on the lugs and none torn or missing. All the little fingers where still there and in new condition. Barring the rock I would have been good for 8,000 more miles. I am primarily a groomed trail rider and spend 99.9% on my time there. The track hooked up fine and resisted sliding on the corners well. It was a light track and turned easily.
Now the track he swears by is a tougher track and is better off trail. Depends on what you want in a track. The new track called a carve is crazy and will bombard those behind you with hail stone sized snowballs when you get on it. Turk was nailing me everytime I got behind him till I learned to stay back. Awesome hookup! Course I hated following him as he chewed the trail up so much it fell like your bearings just went when you got on top of his tracks.
I bought a 1 inch preholed Predator and installed 162 woodys. So far I like the track. Even though it is a 1 inch as compared to a 1.25 I feel no difference in deep snow or packed trail. It hooks up great. On an icy trail its fantastic with the studs, something I have never tried before.
Anyway make your choice on how you ride. The predator is a good track or the new carve but if you where happy with the ripsaw and a primarily a groomed trail rider don't discount it.

I guess I'm in the middle on the ripsaw. On one sled I've been through 3 in 3000 miles. That's mostly from the fact that shi$$ happened and it was under warranty, so why take the risk...I know the first one I had, many lugs were tore off in a freak accident when a piece of clay& stone on a groomed trail became wedged between it and the heat exchanger. (the track was the least of concern, the exchanger was also toast). I sold it to a local guy on a Arctic Crap,he's been running it for 2 years!!! The second one went 2800 mi and the 05 RX1 mono broke and skinned it up, again if it wasn't under YES, I'd run it. Compared to the track on my first 03 RX1, it's the best track ever made!!!
BTW, I have another 03 that I bought with a ripsaw on it and it's runnin great, not sure about the miles on it, I'd say 2000+.
The one thing I have done to all of them is open the closed windows, I believe it reduces the noise and reduces the slide wear. I have never clipped the open windows and there is NO signs of wear on the track and the slides last longer.
I think it's actually a great track. The only neg I see is it slowed the sled down on ice speed runs, but it's great on the trail and in snow for it's depth.
