just wondering what the weight of these sleds are, I heard apex is around 600lbs and viper is 535lbs...any one know for sure?

I got on my buddies Apex GT for a little while when we went out riding today. He wanted to try my Viper LTX. I believe the weight is over a 100lb difference ( Viper lighter) Let's just say my buddy didn't want to give me back my Viper! I on the other hand couldn't wait to get back on it! I used to own a Apex LTX GT and thought I would miss it. My Viper (rebuilt shocks) is a much better ride hands down in my opinion.

Anyone else want to chime in? I have an 06 Apex GT and I am considering buying a 2015 Viper LTX SE w/ MPI turbo or possibly the same sled without the turbo.

My own personal opinion; I came off of an Apex 11 se, ran my SR-Viper rtx non-turbo for 500 miles and found myself keeping up with the other Apexes in the group I ride with. Any time we hit open trail 100 yards or more they would pull away pretty quick. I was having no problem stay tight with the group on ruff or twisty trails. The fact is most times when I was topping out with the stock SR-Viper the Apex would keep pulling. The R1 motor in the Apex has more HP out of the box than the SR-Viper triple. The Apex has a bit more weight however at 160 HP stock Apex vs the 135 HP SR-Viper you will be looking at Apex tail lights.
The SR-Viper rtx bone stock is a ton of fun to ride and I personal like the feel and comfort over the Apex. Power is addicting and the acceleration from 0 to 80 is great on the SR-Viper but bone stock you will hit a wall a little north of 80mph. You already know what the Apex will give you. Get the turbo SR-Viper and make sure the gears and the clutch work was done to match and you will never look back.
My $.02

On our truck scale our 11 apex weighed 720 full of ice and 14 viper Ltx weighed 600 in snow. Same day same fuel. Not a super accurate number but very big difference. Sold apex now have 2 procross sleds.

Have not driven my new to me 16 LTX-LE 137 Viper yet, coming off the Apex RTX with M-10 Air ride (Pretty dam nice ride) so?? They say I will miss the motor on the apex and believe it but that's why I am keeping it! I am graduating from the "top end club" at my age and doing more and more off trail riding. Still the Apex is best sled I have ever owned in 40 yrs of riding.... I am already picking the viper apart on build quality outside the motor.... Just cannot beat the Jap built apex. I am pretty sure I will be happy with the viper when I tweak things to my liking. Have to admit I did some with the Apex too. Two great sleds IMO.

Well, I put a deposit down on a 2015 Viper LTX SE w/MPI turbo. It has only 46 miles and has STM primary weights & STM roller secondary. I am actually buying from the owner of STM Powersports. I would think I should be able to keep up with the Apex's with it. :)
