I have 2 laying on my work bench (motors) and I can tell you I can't pick them up. With the motors out I can lift the front of the sled like I am moving a toy. The 03 pipes are over 30lbs the 05 are about 7lbs light and the Apex pipes are closer to 15# lighter.
If I had to guess because I don't have a scale I would think the motor is between 150 and 200 lbs.
My triple 700 motor I have pulled several times and can unbolt it and lift it out by hand. When I pull RX & Apex motors I have to use a hoist or come along from the rafters.

The complete motor without the clutch weighs around 100lbs.

it all adds up, cat titanium sprung rear skid, made new steering and susp for the front, floats up front, rev styl tank and custom seat saved a ton, the mid mount saves a bunch with such a short manifold and it dump right into teh top of the tunnel, I go for weight rather than looks, all plastic has been removed that could be, steel brackets all removed and or replaced with aluminum, some aluminum bolts here and there, not a lot of money in the whole setup but very noticable compared to a stocker, feels more like a 2-smoker for handling and weight but with the power of a turbo 4-stroker that makes boost at and idle!

Very cool! Have been looking at your pics.
Where did you get the wedge shaped washers for the steering post mounts?

I machined the tapered spacers on the steering to convert the rx-1 style to the more forward apex style mounting, lower arm on the main steering shaft was cut off and the shaft was shortened to give a tad bit more room by the turbo, the stock one cleared it but barely.

Very nice work!
Love the rev tank/seat combo! What a great way to lessen weight & make room!
Am planning doing the steering shaft relocation to mine, was just hoping to find some wedge shaped washers rather than have to make them, but oh well.
I have a 6" articulated riser on it now, and love it! Kinda lessens the need for doing that mod, however I have to lean over the bars to see the instrument pod now.
So I may do this mod anyway, and move the pod to on top of the tank where the bars come up now. (Per how Kachess did it.) Or making a bracket so the pod mounts low on the riders side of the handlebars.
What did you do for a steering stop?
It is behind the current bracket. Was thinking of cutting it off and rewelding it to the front of the shaft.
Is that close to what you did?
What did you spend on the turbo set-up, if you don't mind me asking?

thanks, the steering shaft relocation is a great mod, the tapered bushings I used are very easy to make is you have a band saw, if I remember right they are cut at 21deg angle, I used 1" aluminum bar stock, I did use a lathe to true the ends and drill the center hole but if your careful you can drill the hole in each one with a hand drill. the steering stop I ground out the weld and turned it 180deg and re-welded it, its not much more work though to get some sched 80 .75 aluminum pipe and some flat stock and make some new shafts if you have access to a tig to weld em up, saves quite a bit of weight
as for what I have into the setup with all the raw materials, turbo, 321 stainless for the header, and the gauges I have a little over $2000 in it, could have done it for less but bought a few parts I could have made for much less, such as the mc express oil pump, its an easy piece I could have machined and uses the stock rx1 oil pump gears in it (didnt know that till i got it and opened it up to peak inside), would have cost me about $25 to make but instead cost me $450 to buy. $300 in the wideband which I have yet to really see a need for, I have done enough tuning on engines I dont have to look at it to know if I am rich or lean and plug readings tell me more anyway, $200 in silicone hoses which I have had more problems with that good ole rubber hoses, silicone is too soft, tears easy and fatigues quick with heat and sunlight. $100 in adjustable power jets I dont use, with the pitot tube setup there is no need for the power jets.
there are a few things I have added that I havent updated in the pics yet, I made some coolers for the turbo, the coolant goes through a small u-cooler under the tunnel before going into the turbo and the oil coming out of the turbo goes to a small cooler before going back to the engine, that has lowered the running temps of both the turbo and engine a ton which in turn reduces intake charge temps a bunch.
