Any ideas? I'm keeping the original 136" track.
Thundercat, ZR800, ???, ???. What year?
Has anyone some measurements where to put the holes, rear brackets.
Been reading in on this but I haven't a slightest clue. It's gonna be a summer project, but I have to start early just to find a suitable suspension, if I found one....

I have a 2000 136" Mountain Thunder Cat skid in mine. For the front hole I used the template that most have used on here that is 6 3/4 inches in front of the existing center hole and is 6 3/4 inches down from the inside of the top of the tunnel. The rear hole for this skid is 31 1/4" center to center from the front hole. You can't go wrong. The difference in ride is night and day.

Thanks!
Question about the rear hole. Any reinforcementplates? Should it be at the same 'height' as the original hole?
Is the suspension travel more or less with this skid?
Ratcheting gone?
And now for the hard part... Find a used skid in Sweden thats not a wreck...

The rear hole is 3/4" down from the bottom of the heat exchanger. The main concern is that your center to center is correct. 1/8th inch steel plate works perfect. Nothing fancy. Mine is held on with 2 bolts and rivets on each side. For front mount plates I bought two of the exsisting Yamaha plates and ground the bottom edge off. The skid fits like a glove in there. If you can find a T-cat skid it is already sprung and damped for the weight of the RX1. You can also go with a ZR skid and rail extensions. With the T-cat skid, I just put it in and ran it. Nothing really had to change as far as springs or shock calibration. The sled sits a little higher but handles sooo much better. I couldn't be happier.

Great, do you by any chance have any pictures of both the rear and front plates?

Him, Sorry I don't have a digital camera. I found pictures by doing a search concerning Cat skid. There are some good pictures people have posted. My rear mount is 4" wide by 8" long and sits up along the top of the inside of the tunnel. To make things easier to measure as far as a center to center distance I used a 1/4"x 31 1/4" piece of wood to mark my rear hole location. It was easier than trying to hold a tape measure. The one thing that I did have to do was grind around 1/8th inch of material off of the ends of the front shaft of the skid to help it fit. I kept working it until I got a nice tight fit. Bob

Ok, thanks.
I'm on my first task... To get hold of a used skid in a fairly good condition.

Been a while since last but one question.
Is a Thundercat MountainCat skid from an -96 just junk or should I put it in my old Warrior?
I can absoutely nothing about Cat-skids and which one that is good or not.

Nice install.
To bad it almost impossible to get a used skid in sweden, unless it's totaly useless. And a fairly new new is totally ompissible to get, it seems.
Well, I'll keep looking for a never skid, hopefully I will found one before I get rid of the sled.

One question regarding the rear hole. And that is the distance from the top och the tunnel.
Is the a measurment for that or should the front and rear hole be aligned with the driveshaft in an straight line?
Please, anyone, a quick answer, I'm in the middle of the swap and it's snowing outside...
