I have a buddy looking at a 2004 warrior with 900 miles on it. I don't know much at all about the 136's.

Can somebody give me some good info on the pros and cons of a warrior?
(I know about the engine - I'm looking for more on the bumps and cornering ability of a 136 vs. 121).

I have a o4 an imo i think it takes the bumps better than a 121,the longer rail bridges the gap between the stutters making for a smoother ride, before the mono came out some people thought the warrior skid was the best one yamaha had to date,it will turn a little harder but not enough for it to be a problem.once you get it set up it will handle really well,i love my 136 and i doubt i will ever own a 121 again. :yam:

I havent got to ride mine yet and I cant wait. Also which was considered a better machine the Warrior RX or the RX 1. Was one more expensive and have more options fromt the factory or what is the major differences.

Most any 136" is going to take more effort to turn but if setup properly the difference isn't that much.

IMO the Warrior is a great high mileage cruiser. Mine handles rough trails very well. On wide open trails its a dream, if things start getting tight and twisty it can get tiring.

136 inch skid vs 121 are the only differences between the RX-1 and Warrior. Wait, one more thing; All Warriors came with reverse, you could get an RX-1 without.

Sorry, I didn't give my pro's and cons :o|
Pro's; best riding Yamaha until the Attak and Rage. Great hook up and that added length adds stability at speed.
Cons; Heavy. But so is the RX-1. You won't notice the weight on the trails but you will if you try to do some ditch banging. The sled will sink in the deep soft powder.

thanks for the replies guys. we mostly trail ride in MN and WI - and as I'm sure you are aware, they can range from perfect flat groomed trails to very rough. we almost never go off trail except fire roads in WI - which can be flat rides or a lot of loose snow with some bumps.

Its a great sled... takes some tuning and some mods to handle good... but an overall great sled!

C@A pro skis..

13mm swaybar..

studs.

clutching and ECP kit..

I sold my warrior to my brother.. and he loves it too.

Best sled I have ever owned.
Very Stable trail cruiser.
136 great in the bumps, but not a ditch banger.
Pushes a bit in the corners with a Studded track.
Requires a different riding style.
No more steering with the throttle. Hook up is too good.
Excellent on fuel.
Watch the stock skis in a frozen crust. They can toss you off the sled.

Well ill add my 2 cents here

I bought a 04 Warrior and my friend bought a Rx-1 i like the warrior 10 times better. 1 wider foot wells.2 longer track which hooks up better and i find soaks the bumps better.

 you wont be disappointed!

The 121 works a little better on really tight trails. Everywhere else, I think the 136 is better, as the sled seems better balanced.

My Warrior is equipped with SLP PowderPros with decent carbides (IMHO 6" carbides are a minimum requirement, I'm running 8"). Last year we were running on 4 - 6" of fresh, wet snow, and just no way the 121 RX1s I was riding with (Simmonds skis) could keep up, as I could get out of the corner that much harder, and have better traction at both ends going through as well.

My 04 Warrior now has 5600 trouble free miles on it, going on it's third year in service for me! The ONLY problem I had was the W-Arm had some cracks in it and I re-welded it myself in the off season. Never broke down.
Awesome sled, this year I have done some upgrades to increase performance! :D

I agree. My '04 Warrior has over 6000 miles with no problems. Definately the best sled I've ever had. I generally ride on groomed trails in northern Maine, but, do occasionally ride off trail in fields and on logging roads. I love the versatility of this machine. The Warrior is a good choice.
