I was checking my belt and clutches and found some slight play in the secondary bushings that touch the shaft..
Basically i can slightly wobble the secondary clutch on the shaft..
Whats the allowable amount..,?
THanks

are you talking the whole clutch itself wobbling on the shaft, or the clutch sheaves wobbling on the clutch? when my bushing came off the back. it threw my whole clutch off and was binding on itself. it vibrated pretty bad, but there was also no bushing at all in it. most dealers have the bushings in stock.

If you want to eliminate that whole issue. Grab a set of stock clutches off another sled and try it and see what it does. If it's still there, then you need to look else where.

I changed both of mine this fall. There was alot of play and a big difference with the new ones in. Also changed the primary cover bushing. My ramp bushings were also wore, replaced those. 13,150 miles on sled.

I am curious about his as well. With my secondary dissassembled I have a slight rock or wobble in the sheave and helix bushings. I mic’s them and stub shaft is 1.495” and helix is 1.500 and sheave is 1.502. So basically .005-.007 of play in bushings. Is that acceptable??

Put the clutch together without the spring and observe the play or lack thereof.I am curious about his as well. My rule is that if the teflon coating is coming off and you can see the bronze, then replace.
These bushings normally last a long time.
It's the buttons that need inspection for wear and hairline cracks. Do not use aftermarket.

Thanks 74 Nitro. That makes a lot of sense. Doing that mine has basically no play. Teflon is still on bushings but buttons are cracked and flat. Have new ones arriving tomorrow.
