I'm down to the wire; 2011 Nytro XTX and a Renegade 1200 4 tec. Coming off several 4 cylinder Yamaha's and my current Mach Z, I'm not sure if I can live without the mega HP and top end when I need it.
What could I expect from a naturaly asperated Nytro XTX on a GPS?

I don't believe you can get a new "naturally aspirated" XTX. They're all direct injection. I'm not trying to slam you I just wanted to point that out.
Mine runs 157 KPH (approx 100 mph) with 700 kms (400 miles) on it

My dealer is holding an XTX and a Gade for me till Saturday. Leaning towards the Gade but am having a hard time leaving Yamaha's durability. $8,999 for the XTX, $9,700 for the Gade. Both new and 2011's.09nytro said:What you back to getting a nytro again. What happened to 4-tech 1200

I know what I'd go for! That's a wicked price on the Yammie. I paid $9700 out the door for my new 09 XTX bought in 10. I just love the roll on power from my XTX. Plus it blows the doors off my buddies 2010 1200 4TEC Gade..

I pulled a 107 GPS on not perfect conditions bone stock. I didn't buy the Nytro for top speed, I'm happy with the c note as long as I have gobs of power, which the Nytro IMO is second to none on the bottom end.
I installed 112 1.325 studs in all double backers and seemed to pull my speed down with the extra weight. After a few hundred miles, I bent half my studs and don't want to risk any pull throughs so I pulled all my studs out and running as so. Freewheels nicely on top end with no studs as long as your not on bare ice, which I don't have in my area anyways. Forgot how well the ripsaw track works with no studs.

My xtx on snow outruns my friends 09 1200xr shortie. The xtx will run a honest 100 mph on the gun,on packed snow. On ice i'm sure you can add 10 mph to that easy. In spring of 09 american snowmobiler ran these sleds down a groomed lake for top speed and the xtx ran top speed 98.48 mph and 94.26 in 1000ft. The 1200 shorty ran 93.33 mph top speed and 90.37 in 1000ft. My results have been about the same as the magazine.
These two sled aren't really comparable. The xtx is a in your face, stand up mogul masher that begs to be ridden hard through junk with the skis dangling in the air.
the 1200 is more of a smooth ,quiet, groomed trail cruiser. The 1200 doesn't feel as athletic as the xtx,and seems boring to me IMO.

The 1200 TNT running with me in the same conditions couldn't quite hit 107 in the same conditions. Crappy conditions, but the same conditions for each nonetheless. Many runs were in the 102 range including myself and for the most part, the 1200 runs pretty much the same as a Nytro give or take for each. I figured the TNT would outrun the Nytro 144 given it had a single ply 1" short track, but it did not. The 1200 is not slow by no means and it does make nice power which I would compare as equal to the Nytro. The Nytro seems to have the power right there compared to the 1200 which seemed to have an elastic feel to the power. An Apex running with us wasn't really much faster then the 1200 and Nytro since it wasn't setup very well.
Some things I like better on the 1200 and some things I like better on the Nytro. Guess it all depends on whats acceptable to trade off. I do know I would also be happy on a doo 1200, but a few concerns still make me leery.

I met a guy on the trail a couple times riding a 1200 Gade. Sounded like a ride on lawn mower to me, and he agreed. He said he might switch to Yamaha if this Doo doesn't hold up better than the other Doo's he had in the past. I'd stick with Yamaha if I were you, Mighty. Give Doo a few years with 4 stroke technology first before making the switch.

I agree! As much as I prefer the Nytro, I think it's a BIG stretch to say it would blow the doors off a 1200. The same could be said for any sled that nots set up very well.SledFreak said:canoehead said:I know what I'd go for! That's a wicked price on the Yammie. i've seen one of those new xps 2 years ago look like somebody took the tunnel and rip it in half after a f7 ran over it on the trail one guy was turning left and the other was going strait and skidoo pieces were everywhere the a arm on the f7 was hurt a little but the skidoo was trash, plus to me yamaha is way advanced in there 4 strokes, i also rode an 800 xp and my knees were right on the pannels, was not comfortable, not sure perhaps the bars needed to be set back. just my 2 cents
