thinking of getting a phazer...what size liquid 2 stroke does the phazer compared to? i realize 4 stroke has different kind of hit....as fuel mileage... they seem to have very small gas tanks...sub 10 gallon tanks, every sled i rode in recent memory at least that...tour buddy a neccesity?

IMHO I the Phazer fits right in the middle of the 550cc fans and the 500cc liquids. Maybe closer to the 500cc liquids when accelerating. The 4 stroke torque make it closer the the liquids, but once your up to speed it's closer to the fans... fans will run in the mid 80's and 500cc liquids will run in the low to mid 90s. (mph)
4 strokes will get better gas mileage. How much better is dictated directly by your right thumb!!!

last sled was a 2003 mxz 500 so sorta similiar power output? a little worried on the size of the fuel tank...i believe only 7 gallons? one of the ways yamaha tries cutting weight? its something i prefer they didn't do

You could expect near the same power as any 500cc liquid. And you should not worry about the fuel tank, you will have the same range or better than 2 strokes from around 2003.

i go for about 120 miles before refuelling, those things are good on gas when ridden normally, like 50 mph cruising.not an issue at all and the power is very good,i have a warrior with almost twice the horsepower and i rode the phazer most of the winter last year

Mine runs neck and neck with a 2005 MXZ 500ss right up until about 75 mph.....(500ss was the old 600 mill)

Tried I as might, I couldn't pull away nor could he.

We ran them maybe five times down the lake......

I think that says it all...

I went from a Doo 700 to the SS (600) and now the Phazer. I would compare the Phazer very close to the Doo SS up to 65'ish. They pull about the same, slight edge to the SS...SS has the top end. Here in NYS it doesn't matter IMO with the 55 mph speed limit. Another thing, look down every once in awhile at the speedo...you'll find most of your riding is between 30-65'ish, the sweet spot for the Phazer.

I've run down rail beds/trails with Dragons...Apex...you name the sled, haven't been passed. Pulled over to let them by, they give the wave off. My favorite is chasing them down, then getting their expression... :ORC

i know probably not the best place to ask as i am sure to get a biased answer... have a 1995 ski doo mx that needs alot of work plus due to a shoulder injury at work probably need reverse... wondering if worthwhile keeping my sled, getting a 07 phazer gt ( seen one bn for $6000- better deals to be had?) or getting a polaris indy 500 or xc sp 500 w/ m-10? have owned a polaris before so unsure how their quality is ..i know ac sucks ( prior experience) yamaha quality is best followed by ski doo in my opinion

It depends on a number of conditions, how do you ride (aggressive, trail cruising)? Where do you ride (flat groomed trails, whooped out moguls)? Price of both machines/miles, both new?

The Polaris XC SP 500 is a good machine and that suspension from what I've heard is well respected.

I like my Phazer for the smile factor...the electric start and reverse are awesome. I had to start my Doo SS over the weekend and cursed the pull starting. If your someone that likes to be agressive on the trail, lean into the corners (the Phazer requires more input than most any other snowmobile) and have that MX feel on a sled...the Phazer. If you just cruise the trails, don't ride much whooped out moguls and want to just turn the bars...the Polaris.

the mx needs quite a lot at least by my standards...new pistons, track, upgrade to hydraulic brakes sc-10 11 or better, etc...
the indy 500 is about $2000 no tach but dealer says about $150 in parts to get it to have one
also same dealer has the indy xc sp 500 w/ m-10 for about $3200
and also has a 2007 phazer gt for about 6000?
i ride aggressively high mileage in short time span... ie did the ride around lake nipissing in northern ontario in a day
for some reason not getting notifications just check periodically

Define high mileage, I am not familiar with Lake Nipissing or the distance. I've done over 200 miles in a day on a mixture of trail...smooth...rough. Felt good the next day...

What year is the XC? How many miles? How long do you plan on keeping the sled?

Remember the Phazer gets 15 mpg+ and no dino oil.
