the xc sp is a 2004 and the indy is a o2 plan on keeping for awhile
If your planning on keeping it for a few years, I would go with the Phazer. First warranty, second mpg, resale and you indicated a streak of aggressive riding. They both will top out the same, Phazer will beat it out of the gate and more than likely at the end.
It really depends on your perspective, I can not stand the knees below the hips, pulling the cord or no reverse. If your budget affords it, go with the Phazer...

how bad is the inside ski lift on the phazer? cures? does it have a electric temp/ fuel gauge? if so digital or analog? seriously considering the phazer have my doubts about polaris.... worried too much like arctic cat ( i like the new cats but prior experience with arctic cat is keeping me away)

the phazer i looked at is a 07 phazer gt..08 models have any significant changes? another option i have is as have a shoulder injury sitting out this winter regardless see what the spring models have? any promotions usually? how is the deep snow performance of the phazer? every 121 inch track machine i have had in my opinion does poorly- dealer says doesn't stock longer track versions

Ski lift is there, it's a matter of learning some body english. There is a company selling an aftermarket anti sway type of bracket, not sure how effective that is.
Digital gauges, no temp...just the idiot light. The'08's have a few changes, fan...inside idlers...flap support...slush guards...rear suspension arm?
As far as deep snow, everything 121" is inedequate. I can say my FX worked better in the deep snow than my '05SS...easier to throw around.

wondering if dual runner skis would help..by increasing ski stance....better to get a 08 over a 07? 07 is a new non current gt

also did yamaha go to a smaller gas tank on the 08s? i believe their literature lists a 7 gallon tank about 1 gallon smaller than the 07s?

Yes... the specs show a gallon less from 07 to 08. 8.1 gallon in 07 - 7 gallon in 08
