DynoRay told me that the 300 rpms I gained by just swapping out the stock muffler to the Yosh, I probably gained about 5 hp, but I'd need to run it on the dyno to be absolutely sure. I totally trust his word 110%

Re: What size Slipone?
My buddy subscribed to DTR and sent me the dyno results of the several test that were done with the 2008 Yamaha Nytro Excell exhaust header/ muffler evaluation.
Impressive results. I'll try to copy them here. My earlier post shows the results of the excell header muffler system which produced 147.5 hp @8800 rpm.
kingedwards99 said:I Was Wondering if anyone subscribes to dynotech research? and if so could we possibly get some info on the 08 fx nytro (Excell hp improvements) compare stock muffler with and without muffler, to excell header/mufflers/ fuel tweks/ timing tweaks, artical on 12-31-07? and if there is anymore info not only on the excell exhaust but the aaen and street bike exhaust? I know guys say that there getting hp from street bike exhaust, but which one really benifits you? Could you get just as much out of a aaen exhaust, as you can the excell system? would you really notice -2 hp for $400 less? Thanks for any info. If its top secret or somthing you can pm me. I WON"T TELL!!!!!!! Just want some one other than the companys dyno sheets on this to know if they are comparible hp gains to there own dyno # s.

This dyno session pretty much confirms my initial thoughts. My plan for this season is to run the RB3 programmer and create a map for both timing and fuel which will optimize the A/F. I will likely turbo this sled down the road so I'm going to put a wideband A/F guage like on my current turbo sled in the exhaust so I can get the maps optimized. I have a nitrous system that I'm going to try as well. The RB3 allows you to switch between maps on the fly so that when I hit the button I will be able to switch maps and add fuel throught the stock injectors and take out a little timing on the top end when on the juice. I guess we'll see if it works.

Wow, this is a ton of researching, money and wrentching time for such comparitively small HP gains..... In a drag race I am thinking the difference between the stocker and the "best set up" is less than two sled lengths... Lose 10 lbs or so and you'll likely get the same results, and you can get your sled fixed under warranty. I am picking up my SE in a week, I think I'll be doing a slip on just for the mental perception that the sled is faster because is sounds meaner!

You're right it is a lot of work and money but that's what it takes. In order to get comaprable results from dropping weight you would need to drop at least 84 lbs conservatively. 1 equivalent HP is gained for each 7 lbs dropped. If you do the full treatment you should see the better part of 15 hp over stock which would take 7 * 15 105 lbs or so. If you mod the motor you can still lose the weight and win both ways.

Well I dropped 30 lbs myself since January 08 :exc: , and I dropped about 20 lbs off the sled with the mods I made, add about 5 hp from the pipe mod, figure I'm up about 12 hp overall compared to last Jan, not bad at all when you look at it that way !
