What Sled is mine?

o7 apex rtx,get shocks done and your golden

Okay... I have decided since this is my 1st sled and my low budget, I found a '04 Warrior that I plan on buying Thursday. It's got 2400mi and can buy it for right around my $3k budget. This should give me a chance to see how many times I'll use it and how many miles I'll log per year. If I see it correct, this is relatively the same size & style sled as the Apex, but carbed(not EFI), not quite the suspension, and less HP than the Apex? The "sames" would be track size, seating style, and close to the same weight/handling? With the low miles and condition, I should be able to use the Warrior for 2 years then step into an '11 Apex XTX (the XTX denotes the 136' track, right?).
I can't find an '07 or newer Apex with less than 5k miles for under $4k, which takes me out of my budget. Is there a sled I'm missing that may be a better choice given my parameters of under $3,500 and <4,000 miles?

With an 04 Warrior, there is very little that's close to an Apex except the engine. But you want speed so you got it.

Have you looked for an 2008 or newer Vector LTX 136" track . Great trail sled not the HP of the Apex but has plenty for most situations. same chassis as the Apex !

Thanks for the input DGZRT. the 3 cylinder would be a little lighter too, right? But.... Am I going to find an '08 Vector LXT with < 5k miles for under $3500? It really sounds like I need and want the '07 or newer Apex, but I can't drop nearly $7k until I find out if I'm going to use the sled more than 4-6 days a year.

Question for everyone: What sleds from '05-'08 has a 136" track with the 998cc or larger motor? Again, I don't want to spend money to take a 121" and stretch it, because I'm never going to get it back. Also I don't want the 3 cylinder (I can think of Rage) with the 136" track.

Thanks again to everyone for their help in making sure I get the right sled, even if it is only for a couple years.

Can't believe those prices are that high for the 06+ apex or 08 vector. If you could find an 06 apex gt you would have all the sled you want minus some bells and whistles and I could swear they are in the 3500-4000 range. Then you would just be upgrading to the new features and such. And if you got shocks set up to your liking you might even be able to work it out so you could take those with you into the new apex. The warrior takes one to ride one. They are a beast. Just really hate to see you very disappointed in your first sled.

If you are okay with not having the fastest, but decent ergos check out one like mine. 06-07 RS Nytro. They were meant to be the ditch banger types. They have a tall seat and bars, and they do have slightly more aggressive clutching and gearing. They pull quite nicely. They have the 973 carb triple motor. Fox Floats up front, and the CK skid out back. I bought mine with under 3K miles for $3500. I love this sled- it does a lot very well for being an older 4 stroker.

Nevermind- just saw you don't want the 3 cylinder motor. My bad. The motor is pretty decent really. But to answer your question, the only models with the big 4 bangers and 136 tracks were the Attak, Apex LTX, or the Warrior.

I have to agree the warrior with the pro action skid is not the best off trail even though it is a 136. I blame it on angle of attack it tends to push more snow then climb on top of it

My 05 warrior is same sled. I put a AD Boivin skid in it and a 1 inch track in it and it was really good off trail the Bovin skid would climb up on top of the snow. I also put an Apex seat on it and 2 inch riser. I thought the sled was perfect after that.

You want stock so if lean towards an Attack or Rtx but for 3500 you might be spot on with the Warrior. Understand however that the pro action skid handles well enough but ride kinda sucks. Power wise my warrior was good for 105 on gps and 120 on the dream meter. My 2011 XTX is good for 110 mph gps and 112 113 dream meter. So the old carved sleds will haul the mail. I'd say trails and lakes will be perfectly fine but get a run at the deep stuff and stay on top. Slow down and you'll find out why they call th submarines
I saw a 05 warrior with an AD Boivin skid in it on line lately about 4500 Canadian. That would be the perfect sled for you. Ride deep snow and power.

DGZRT-- If you can get him down to $3500 for me and get the sled to the southern border of the UP by Thursday night.... It's a DONE DEAL!
Man, that is a nice looking sled! The polishing really sets that thing off!

Ha Ha . No not me! I'm waiting for the NEW IRON to come out! I did find a 2015 Axys 600 Adventure with everything for 9200 at Zero % ..... Very tempting ! I should have rode Dylan's last weekend to figure out if I liked it!
