Hi,
I have a 2008 Yamaha Apex that was purchased as a leftover in the spring - I started taking it apart to convert it into a crossover 144 sled. I tore my ACL recently and will undergo surgery in Dec and will not be able to ride at all this year. What should I do with my sled?? I would love to sell it and look for something else in the spring time, the current state prevents me from selling it - how it sits now it would be minus the following parts: rear suspension, track, stock seat, tail light, exhaust coverings, exhaust tips, stock a arms, stock skis, might be a few more misc. parts. Is ther any chance in selling it like this? What I have in aftermarket parts that can be included: 144 CR Racing Tunnel, 144 Expert X rear suspension, 144x1.25 studded ripsaw, Pioneer Performance Wide A Arms, Mountain Mod Seat, Curve XS Skis, mountain riser, mountain bars, a couple other odds and ends. Looking for some input on ways to get out of the sled!!

Why not just keep it and work on it through the next year. You probably won't be able to get out of it what you need. It's not like it is going to be outdated next year.

Keeping it is an option - if I were to sell it stock form with what I have left it looks like I would need about $6k for it!

It looks like $6k would buy the stock sled in its current form, I am afraid to add up the extra's, but here is a good estimate:
$1200 CR Racing Tunnel
$600 Mountain Mod Seat
$400 TJ's Tunnel Dump Exhaust
$500 Pioneer Wide Kit
$500 Curve Skis
$1000 144 Expert X
$400 144x1.25 Ripsaw Studded

Those are the big items, somebody would have to want that exact setup to make it worth there time and money.

Take it to adealer and pay for them to put the stock parts back on so it is back to stock forum. Probably would not cost more than 400.00 to get it back together, since all they have to do is start bolting it to-gether and not removing anything. I good dealer should be able to put that back to-gether in 3-4hrs. Sell all the after market parts and call it a day. You won't recover much in the forum that it's in.

After market parts are only worth 1/2 of the price after you left the store.

I would put it back to stock if I had the parts, I no longer have any of the stock parts that I removed.

Looks like it might be a good winter project, might extend it to a 162 and head out west next year!!!!

Put a riser on it so you don't have to bend your knees to ride, good PT! I have plenty of pics of one of my riding buddies cruizing around the hills last season with crutches strapped to the tunnel after knee surgery. I would recommend baskets for the crutches in softer snow.

Might work, up and down for therapy and then sit in the snow to ice . . . sounds like the perfect PT routine. :exc:

Beats the couch, pain meds and soap opera program. Just get help loading and unloading the sled and you're good to go.

This is my 4th ACL surgery - I can relate to the couch, pains, and nothing good on tv!!!

Keep it. Gives you something to do once you can get around but not released for work. Plus you should be able to ride by the end of Feb. I had my ACL replaced on 15 Nov 2005. I rode all season, of course we rarely get any snow here until Jan. I rode over 1000 miles that season. I was walking on day 3 after the surgery. I didn't use the crutches for more than a week. I only ever wore my custom brace while riding or playing football, but I would definitely get a brace fitted for riding this year.
