Should I use 0W-30 or 0W-40 in a 2010 Vector GT??

Also, how much should go in with a filter change?

Thanks! I'm doing it for a friend and don't have access to the owners manual...

I have run Mobil1 0-40 in all my 4-stroke sleds. My '10 Vec is my 4th one now. No issues.

About 3.5 quarts. Add in 3 quarts, start engine & let it run for a few minutes. Check stick & add a little at a time from there.

You only want it 1/2 way on the checkers (stick threaded in), between low & full, or else it will puke it out the airbox, making a F-ing mess.

7800 miles on my 05 running the Yamaha 4S oil. Compression still at stock numbers. I'm a big Mobil 1 fan but I ran the Yami product because I had the extended warranty and didn't want any problems...just in case.

Changed the filter every time....cheap insurance.

Pretty sure you do not screw the dip stick in when checking your oil!

I've done it both ways & heard it both ways.

My personal experience is that not screwing it in while checking & adding, can still lead to overfilling, thus puking into the airbox.

This is just my .02 & that's why I screw it in to check it.

I run Amsoil 0w-40 four stroke formula. It is specially designed for the higher rpm motors and has the cold crank capability for those cold mornings. Besides, It's Amsoil, The first company to introduce and make synthetic oils.

Does anyone have a manual. Seems like he wanted the Yammy recomendation not our opinions or what we use.

3 "liters" with filter............ Do not swrew in the dipstick to check... Just lay on top... ;)! MM.

I could be wrong but I thought the 0W-30 was semi-synthetic and the 0W-40 was full synthetic. Either one wil work if you dont want to use Amsoil or Mobil 1. G.B.

You are correct, the 0W-30 is semi-syn and the 0W-40 is full syn if your talking about Yamalube?

The semi is $12.95 a litre and the full syn is $21.95 Ltr (CDN)

Yes Yamalube. G.B.

What are the main differences between 0W-30 and 0W-40 Mobil-1 oils?

I looked today for the 0W-30 Mobil-1 but all I could find was 0W-40 Mobil-1?
I didn't purchase any, figured I would ask here first.

Oh and it was only $9.79 a Ltr compared to $21.95 for Yamalube's 0W-40 synthetic. (CDN.)
