What water temp gauge is everyone using

I used the Digital Water Temp Gauge from Mountain Performance on my 03. It worked well but it is a little pricey at $170. Just curious as to what everyone was using before I buy one for my 05.

$170, yikes. Summit racing has many different brands with alot better pricing. I went with an Autometer Phantom gauge for about $39.00. It's electric and came with different sending units. Installed it looks factory because of its white face and black trim ring ;)!

Hey guys what's the temperature range on these gauges and what is the average temperature that the RX1 runs at in average snow conditions?

The gauge ranges from 100-250. I find my sled runs at between 160-180 in good conditions. The temp rises pretty quick when stopped for very long.

Mighty,
Where did you connect the sending unit and what kind of adapter is needed?
Thanks
GT

Here's a pic. of a clamp on sender that was posted a while ago. I'm planning on installing this over the summer

Seems that sensor would be slower to react not actually coming into contact with the coolant.

I thought about that. I don't think it will be much slower, but the temp being sensed will probably be a little lower than the actual coolant temp. This shouldn't matter too much.... the O/H light will still be working.

My temp usually runs between 150and 160 on my digital gauge.

Temp Gauge with insteam sensor is better

I installed and am using a motion pro, with a sensor that you install into the t-pipe with 1/4 inch pipe thread. It is digital, and it will flash at a preset to alert you to the overheat issue.

Motion pro is found thru JC whitney. Cost about $50 total.

Nice digital deal and the sensor is in the fluid so it will react quicker than the clamp on deal. Have to tap the pipe to put it in is all.

qt, Sorry, but I didn't see your question for me about where to place the sending unit. I put a brass T in the rubber hose that connects the two coolant pipes on top of the engine. I picked up the T at Lowes. The top of the T is threaded while the other two ends are regular pipes ends. If you get the gauge I suggested it comes with an adaptor that will screw into the T. Make sure you use teflon tape so it doesn't leak.
